Opinions on SSR pitbikes?

I was wanting to know what you guys think of SSR pitbikes? I found two SSR 110s and each guy wants like 300-400 bucks? Is that a good deal? Are they good bikes? Anyone have experience with them!
Please let me know!

I've had one and they are such a pain to deal with. I'd just wait for a KLX110 to come around. You can find one for the same money and it's easier to get parts for and they're more reliable in my experience.

build a real kxl or drz 110. I snapped my ouput shaft and have kept it for 3 years because they are getting hard to find.

I had one of their high end models and it wasn't a bad bike at all. It took a lot of abuse, only thing that ever went wrong with it was the oil cooler mounting tab broke off the frame. It was around 1500 bucks new but I picked it up off craigslist for 600. It had a 125cc engine, 4 speed manual trans, inverted forks, disc brakes and big gun pipe with a spark arrestor. Way more decked out than any KLX 110 at that price. That being said, I sold that bike and a few years later when the fork seals started leaking. I ended up with 2 KLX110Ls. Those bikes are a shit load of fun and they're bone stock. Its nice to know that anything that goes wrong on them you can head down to the local kawi dealer and get parts. Getting parts for some chingaling forks, good luck.

I deal pretty much in all things "Mini". We sell Cobra, SSR, Pitster pro etc. You get what you pay for with them. The higher end models are pretty good and the lower end models are exactly that, lower end. If money doesn't matter building a 110 is great, if you don't hate money get a high end pitster. The new 2015 LXR's are the best pitbike I've ever ridden.

Thanks everyone, I think I'm getting a KLX110. Still looking around for one, and gonna put some money back to get one.

I just picked up a 09 klx110 for $250 at a yard sale for my daughter. The guy said the engine was shot but turns out they had filled it up to the top with oil instead of using sight glass. I changed the oil and it runs perfect. If you want a mod 110 just buy one already tricked out. I bought a new stock one in 07 then spent over $5k on it. I recently sold it for $1500 and was lucky to get that. You can pick up a nice mod for $2500. Building one from the ground up is a money pit that you'll never get your $ back on. Good luck.

I have to disagree with you on the pitster, I have had one since 2009 and it has been trouble free, I put the bigger motor (155cc) in about 4 years ago just because, bigger is better you know. I bought the motor from Pitster and it really hauls ass, we have put that thing through the ringer on the pit bike track and the moto track. It has been flawless and I can't say enough about how well it works.

There all junk. Chinese built scrap metal. Never run right parts are thin as air about as strong as the toy dirtbikes you could take apart and put back together.

you must have got the luckiest bike, everything i've seen and touched from them is so low quality i wouldn't want to putt around the parking lot much less try anything more strenuous.

Not to mention horror stories from their customer service.

Not sure where you guys are finding decent KLX 110's for a few hundo. In LV, I was looking at 03-07 kawi's that were $900 and up, most roached out. I went to look at one(pics were good) and the cases were spray painted, bars were bent and the shifter looked like a candy cane at xmas. Rode the POS down the street and both wheels were stop signs, Flintstones had better wheels. I wasn't paying that much for crap. I found a brand new 110L on ebay for $1650, wired the dude the money and went to SD 2 weeks later to pick it up. I have friends that blew through those pitster bikes as fast as they could ship em. I've seen custom BBR 110's fully modded for $2500 or less, that's a good deal for what they got into them.

Like most everyone said be careful of the Chinese pit bikes. They look bitchin, but my god are they brittle.

My dad bought me one in 07 and I was pumped! We took it to our shop that had some undeveloped land next to it and I let her rip, for about 10 minutes or so. There was a stretch of some natural sand whoops, and when I was about halfway through the bike snapped in half ala Pingree on the KTM. I wadded my brains out but was honestly laughing to hard to feel the pain.....

Brand new out of the crate it lasted a good 10 minutes......you get what you pay for.

I bought two SSR 125 for my little kids. They are not high quality that's for sure. But, they are super cheap fun. I've gone through a couple axles and frames haha. But I was doing the triple on the mini bike track. Also, its a 125, and absolutely smokes the KLX 110 on power and suspension. I spent $1000 on two, and make that $2000 KLX look slow.

Just like with most things on this fourm, some people know what there taking about and others think they know what there talking about.

The low end ssr's are no good, they make some decent higher end models but most you see are on cL are neglected or the cheap models.

Planetminis.com is a better resource for mini bike info, most people on here still use them to go take a shit at big bikes races!

Here's some "Chinese junk" to ponder over!

This is my 2009 Pitster LXR 160. I'll guarantee you aren't to break it in some sand rollers. Not quite big bike quality, but not bad. Check out Piranha 190's also. There is a whole world of this stuff beyond the 500$ Pep Boys stuff.

I have owned both a ssr 125 and a Apollo DB-99 125cc both bought from www.powerdirtbikes.com I prefer the Apollo bikes hands down. The SSR pit bikes are great at first but they are hard to keep running and good luck getting parts for them. You can get parts for Apollo all day long on Amazon. I have owned my Apollo for 3 years now and yet to have a problem with it.

It always cracks me up when someone creates multiple accounts so they can agree with him or her-self, and even push their own wesbite in the process... Since you have three accounts on here, maybe I'll let you choose which two I'm locking, permanently....
