Got myself a pre-oiled Twin Air filter and a guy at the tracks said its no good because they (Twin Air) don't oil them properly. Seemed pretty good to me and bike ran sweet.

Was he right or talking s***?

You will be able to tell just by looking at it and I would believe twin air knows a little more about oiling filters than some dipshit at the track. But not sure why you would not oil your own.

He's right in a way. I've had pre oiled filters before & they didn't feel sticky enough when I got them out of the bag. I oiled it again to be on the safe side.

I would Oil my own filter it's pretty important the motor doesn't suck dirt or sand right?

On another note I had a buddy pick up a brand new CR250 from the dealer drove to a sand track and rode until the motor was tight, it sucked so much sand thru poorly oiled filter from the factory. All depends who you want to put your trust in with something so important.

Filters should be oiled at the dealer, not the factory. I'm guessing that one is on the dealer.

Pre-oiled filters are fine, as long as the oil hasn't migrated to the bottom of the bag (out of the foam.) Anyone using a pre-oiled filter should squeeze the bag a few times to allow the oil to redistribute before opening the package. You should be just fine.

I've used the Maxima Ready-to-Use filters with no issues.

Twin air pre oiled filters are top notch , it doesn't have as sticky feeling because they use the bio air filter oil , still doing its job , just a different characteristic than the alcohol based filter oil . either way it's still quality .

Fast and convenient. Worst case spray a little more oil on if you think it needs it. Beats cleaning especially if you can get dealer cost on them.

I'm pretty sure twin air even weigh their filters so they know it has the perfect amount of oil

It was a last minute buy, needed it the morning after and didn't want to risk using my Apico one as its looking a bit tired haha.

This is correct I use Twin Air oil and it isn't sticky at all. I have a Putoline spray oil in my shed also which is very sticky!

I would run it on watered tracks or the rainy season. i ran a maxima filter a few years ago and ruined a top end on a really dusty enduro. ( i would change the filter after every loop)

Not sure why you would take a brand new bike to a sand track...

So you guys pay like 30$ every time your filter gets dirty instead of just cleaning and oiling it? I couldn't imagine.

No I usually clean mine and re-oil it Tongue

What happened on this occasion, I was checking my bike over make sure everything was sweet the morning before I went to the practice track. I noticed my Apico filter had a tear near the centre and didn't have a replacement so to save time I ordered a pre-oiled filter online (before 2pm next day delivery) and it arrived the next morning! I put 'er in and off I went haha. The beauty of 1st class postage!!
