Opinions on New TM's ?

Looking to get some feedback on newer TM's 4 stroke and 2 stroke .Reliability, power, brakes, Ergos, suspension,Resale ? Ive read a couple MXA tests and they liked them, just want to see what real world owners think of them long term. I work at a KTM and Husky dealer so i do understand the market and lately we've sold 3 two strokes to every 4 stroke. With the resurgence of the smokers, is their demand for tm 2 strokes ? How do their 4 strokes hold up ? Ive heard they have a slow revving motor compared to a bike from the big 5. I have an option of starting up a TM dealership with some backers but only if it was a money making operation and there was a demand. If anyone at the dealer level has any input that would be great as well. Thank you !!

I've never ridden one...but I think they look great. I like the blue/white plastic & the blue rims too. The TM's have always looked "Euro" a bit (since they are), but they're getting more mainstream all the time. It's interesting to see them using KYB suspension instead of the WP stuff they used in the past.

No doubt a sweet looking bike, but for me it all comes down to support and availability in parts. How easily could you buy some over the counter parts for a TM within a 20 mile range at any given time? With TM, it's about a 2000 mile range which means if any thing breaks, you're at the mercy of waiting for a mailed part. If you're an occasional trail rider that's fine, but if you're racing it's a tough sell.

maybe someday TM will actually decide it wants to be a real competitive manufacture with all that entails...........they make a total of about 1500 bikes or so WORLDWIDE I believe, the product is arguably top notch and competitive, but everything else leaves a lot to be desired if you're thinking of becoming a dealer "partner"

They look great, how did they get on in the 450 shootout?!
In my opinion they put a lot more effort in to making there bikes better than some of the others especially Suzuki

They weren't in any of the US 450 Shootouts.

Probably because TM didn't give them one to test.

It would be irrelevant for reasons mentioned above.

Man those bikes are so cool!

Hi, OP. I am a new distributor of TM for Georgia (operating online) as of now. You can find our instagram @tmracinggeorgia. We are anticipating getting our first bikes in the next month or so. I can tell you that build quality is second to none. Fuethermore, R&D on our two strokes is second to none. For the east coast guys, my goal is to make TM readily available for the Georgia area and the Southeast. If you have any questions regarding bikes or ordering info feel free to contact us @tmracinggeorgia.com

MXA has the best connection with their US importer and not even they hosted one. I don't believe they have 17s available for us yet in the US and we wouldn't hold up a shootout for that.

17's are showing up now for tests. I know the 85, 144, and new 300fi have been doing some testing.

Yeah, that might be the case, but wouldn't that be a bit silly on their part, unless the bikes are really that bad?
I reckon they would do ok in the two stroke shootout though!!

Well, all the 450 Shootouts were conducted the first and second weeks of November... Only reason they were that late was because of the CRF450R this year.

Thanks for the answer, it would be nice to hear a comparison in the future, perhaps

Yeah, but like you said, MXA has a great review of the 144 and always tries to have TM reviews when the bikes are available.

we have a few local pros that I know will be willing to assist. Also, will have other various skill levels so we get a fair comparison.

300 FI? If so, they may beat Beta, which is my next scoot with the OI if they come out with EFI also.

IF TM makes it first, I have a spot ready.

I was on their website a bit ago and really liked how you could add some parts you know you would want and it comes ready to go. Like a larger gas tank or different spring rates. This is a really nice feature I wish the big 5 would do more of. I guess it comes with the territory though, they aren't production line bikes like the big 5.

I'd say that the real reason is that TM has absolutely nothing to gain by providing a bike to be critiqued.

Why?

They only make 1,500 bikes WORLD-WIDE, and they already sell each and every one.

Until TM decides that they want to mass produce, they already have a loyal following that does not care of others opinions.

Their bikes are sexy, and sex sells.
