Steve Cox reported in today's Racerhead that Oakley had misspelled RV2s name on his signature goggle line. I spotted this at my local shop 3 weeks ago, but was told they did it on purpose. Who's right? If this was a misprint, how big of a deal is that for RV2 and the folks at Oakley? Surely they would have caught that long before production........

I scooped the pair up at my local shop. The shop said they are going to call Oakley and see what they have to say. Any Oakley reps on the board? What happened?

I'm a senior graphic designer, and i'm leaving my current workplace... So i'm going through CV's to see who's going to be my replacement...

A senior designer at a great agency here sends me a resume with giant lettering "I am what your looking for!"

Villopotto... ? If people can't get "you're" right, what chance do they have with his funky surname hahaha... Still, not good....

Caught apostrophe errors in Pro Circuit print early this year. Inexcusable.

The perfection that is the hallmark of PC lost a little of its shine when the glossy ads had defects.

I just think like that. I'll be OK.

Let's be honest. The ad agency, who Oakley hires, probably has graphic designers who don't know the difference between Ryan Villipoto and Ryan O'Neal. If that's the case, Oakley needs a proofing policy that is made before they mass produce their point of sale material.

I agree. RV2 has become as much of a common staple as RC, CR, and DV12(Go Cobra) in most magazines, forums, and in everyday bench racing. On the goggle box, it's smack dab in the middle and in plain sight! Do you recall or roll with it? Smile

That's alright, if you put cumchuggler in the post and a little smiley it will be OK.

Seriously, a lot probably gets lost in the Chinese translation.

Im obsessive about spelling and I catch it it EVERY magazine published that I have read from Time, People to MXA RacerX etc drives me nuts!.....I understand it happens, but for this kind of blunder at Oakley with a signature product you know it went through a few hands before being produced and finalized which I'm surprised it made it to final production w/o being caught and why wasn't it at least shown to RV before it hit production? Either someone with the job of proof reading the ad was asleep or didn't want to do their job at 100%. Not that it's a major issue but that should NEVER happen at the level Oakley is at ....Kind of thought it was funny but dam that is a big fookup.

The most offensive spelling and grammer mistakes are on craigslist for sure while it irritates me it's also quite amusing to see people post how dumb they really are to the public.....unbelievable, makes me think of the movie "Idiocracy" everytime I see a retarded post on CL

For someone who is obsessive about spelling you sure do have a lot of misspelled words, lack of punctuation and bad grammar in your post! For chrissake, you spelled "damn" wrong...not to mention "grammar"!

I'm just sayin'...

Dude I re-read and proofed that and I spelled "Dam" on purpose.....as for lack of punctuation I do have a habit of run on scentences ONLY when responding on here.....and I do apologize for the "grammer" spelling ....I have been drinking a wee bit too much Wink

Thank you Bauer for making me check myself for stones I have thrown at others, I'm not without fault but you will rarely catch those mistakes in any of my other posts. I really do take pride in my grammar and spelling based on the reasons stated above and ironically the one post I make about criticizing others I made the same mistakes I criticized..... Pinch

Now that you've come to terms with that, go say 27 Hail Mary's, 3 Lord's Prayers and the Priest has some work for you in the back of the church, he'll meet you there.
