So, last night I bought my son a very cool 16" GT bmx bike for Xmas. I think I was a little too excited when I did it and may have jumped the gun on the "free wheel" part.
Anyways, does anyone know if you can somehow convert a free wheel bike into a coaster brake bike?
Oh yeah, did you know MC raced BMX BEFORE he raced SX? (this was said just to make this thread moto related)

I'd just let him give it a go with the freewheel and teach him hand brakes.
And MC was just inducted into the ABA Hall of Fame.

Yeah I use to race MC.. I showed him everything he knows. In fact, I think I will take credit for him becoming a super cross king.
He will be fine, might take him longer to learn but he will do fine.

(FYI - Watch TWMX KickStart) B. Deegan makes the best Mini Dad ever..
Speaking of Jeremy, check this out. Years ago I won one of those JM replica GT bmx bicycles from a Racer X contest. I actually ended up with the one Jeremy used for the contest photoshoot.
A little while after that, I got him to sign the numberplate at the Steel City National.
How's that for a cool slice of motobelia? I'm working on a game-room conversion and thinking about hanging it above a pool table with some attached lighting for a one of a kind table light. Or maybe not.

If you do tho, buy a coaster hub, a rim and a spoke kit.
My son was born with "Pseudarthrosis" of his left tibia (shin bone). for 4 years of his life there was an actual hole in the middle of his left shin and just a little bone around it to support it. He wears a brace from the bottom of his foot up to his knee.
He is perfectly normal, he jams! He is 4 1/2 and for some odd reason (the DR's are baffled) the bone just decided to grow in the last 6 months! It was one of the happiest days of my life to hear this. However, he is still in the brace as a large lump appears in the middle of his shin.
He rides a bike now and has really outgrown it he is ready for the next step, I know he will get the handbrake down in a matter of minutes. I am the one that remembers the freewheel to the shin every once in a while. Although I know it is what every boy goes through and should as they mature into the men we are, I am just a little freaked that he gets it to the shin.
I didn't even think about that until this morning, uugggghhhh. DAMN! I know he would be sooo pumped but the dad in me is a little worried. BTW- the doctors did ok it for him to be a little boy and the brace should come off shortly. You would never know he wears one unless I told you.
Good idea about the walmart bike, I can probably rob the whole system off it and then switch it back later....
Thank you all for the help, we can go back to talking about fights, silly season, marriages, insurance and all the other goodies now!
I have one of those little 16" Xgames moto bicycles that has full suspension and a coaster brake. It has black wheels that are in good shape. $20 for the whole bike.
good stuff Regis
