I raced against him in 88 to 90. Me, Jeff and our friend Jerry drove to a golden state race at Glen Helen one year. Wasn't sure what happened with him after that.. Nice guy.

Scott Myers mechanic makes the list but he doesn't(or did I miss it). Lou should make the list strictly for going from pro beginner to where he is.

Andy......you have an official PC computer for a brain! Holy crap that is a lot of names to remember. I can remember quite a few from my neck of the woods , but it would take me all day and I would probably forget 90% of them.

Lou Lopez worked at my bank when he was racing before the Sunstar job. Great guy. Gary Dunn was another that got a job in the industry not long after Lou got his.

Which one was Scott Myers mechanic? Thanks, can't remember.

Yep, was thinking the same thing, I was born in the same hospital! Think he moved before he ever got on a motorcycle though.

But really Nor-Cal still has lots of fast people it is just that most of them seem to be in that barely qualify and run 20th-40th at a national speed.

Last year Cory Pennington did pretty good in the nationals and this year Preston Mull seems to have done the best of the newer kids coming up.

But really Lance Burgess was the man RIP!
Prozach, where did you go to high school and what year did you graduate. Lance was the man, but he and Danny V. had some good races. Is Cory Pennington any relation to Jesse.

Was a shitty racer, but a good fan...lol

Too bad old memories don't turn into $$$...lol.

Willie and Lee Miller. Willie and Beetle Murphy battled in 125s. Our pal Rick Evans raced Leon Ellis in Am before both went expert when '78 came around. Dan Sawyer, Danny Williams and Dennis Canevari think made expert then quit right after.

Randy Richardson was another early '70s oldie. Irv Achinger late '80s was pretty good.

Mark Myers(RetiredCAPro), Darrin Channel(think another Fairfield Kawi/Team Green rider) late '80/early '90s. JJ Taylor.

Oh yeah, that's right and also seemed his other half had family down south(unless thinking of someone else). If you wouldn't mind, tell Lou I said hello next time you talk to him. Thanks a bunch!

The Jimmy Olson I'm thinking of had a younger brother named Randy and lived somewhere around Concord.

Jeff Brownlee was also good friends with Eric DuCray who was a pro from Sac, who now owns a KTM shop. I remember going with Brownlee and DuCray to Glen Helen when Brownlee was trying to qualify for the Glen Helen national. Got to walk the track with them and thats when I realized the hills at hangtown are nothing even close to what they were riding on at Glen Helen. Flat out scary, good fun and got to see the whole true privateer side first hand.

I'm just glad I made Andymoto's list of Norcal pros! Good post. Amazing how many names you remember but I forgot a lot more! Norcal had some fast guys and some very cool tracks. You could pick and choose where and who you wanted to race on any given weekend. Lenny Macarella is one I didn't see. Ron Self is another. Paul Turner, Jim's little brother. He made a big splash in bicycle suspension as we all know. Duane Joice, Greg Hebbard. The list might be endless.

Mike Beier, Brian n Brent(?) Coulson, Marty Sawin. Gotta be another couple names missing for everyone mentioned. Wanna say Self raced either Husky or KTMs. Vasco DeMello, Duane Scott, Doug Kohler think made expert. DeMello promoted races for a little bit at Mammoth Bar, Prarie..

Saw Eric today at his KTM dealership - he is heading to Taft tonight to race the WORCS series race, where he is leading the points in his class. SUPER nice guy and a heck of a suspension guru!

Wow, brain fade all the way. Remember Dennis Brand, hauled from the Central Valley...great times. THE Gary Murphy I remember was from Santa Cruz and rode out of Moores like myself. Greg and Tim Hebard also..
