Rattlesnakes aren't too common in my 'hood, but saw them regularly in CA. Other poisonous ones here though.

When dogs grab a snake and shake the shit out of them, this is why they do it. It works.

What was the point in killing it?

Making up for his tiny little dick probably.

Yeah that's exactly what you wanna do in a "rattlesnake situation". Blink

That's probably some of the worst advice I've heard.

Yeah I don't get it either. Looked like the snake's natural habitat, not his backyard with a toddler or his pets running around.

That's crazy. 90% of rattlesnake bites occur from someone trying to do just that. I agree leave it alone!

Works on woodchuck too except you can hear the spine snapping while the dog death shakes it.

I grew up with rattlesnakes all around us. Then moved to Florida and we got plenty here - including moccasins with no rattle. I've almost stepped on rattlers and moccasins too many times to count. I have a healthy respect for them, but don't fear them. I have caught moccasins here in my yard and relocated them. Snakes are beneficial and scared of humans. I can understand killing a venomous snake if you find it in your yard, but just let them be in the wild should you encounter one.

I feel bad for the snake that bites you , all that hair in their mouth.

Haha! Maybe that's why they don't scare me. My subconscious mind knows my thick furry Chewbacca coat will stop them!

Thats the same technique I use on Lions and Tigers. Not so much with elephants. My hands are not large enough to reach around their legs.

I don't suggest killing rattlesnakes or giving an elephant a reach around. Both seem dangerous.

The closest I get to a venomous snake is a shovel length away. I prefer doing it with a 12ga shotgun though. But those are just the ones I find on my property. If I'm out in nature I leave them alone.

That dude is nuts to grab a wild rattler with his bare hands.

He has killing them down pat. If he were smart, he'd learn to milk them. A friend of mine got bit by a copperhead. One vial of antivenom was $9k....... It took 9 vials. Another friend, one of the biggest, toughest, baddest men I've ever known, grabbed a utility trailer by the tounge and got bit on the back of his hand by a blackwidow spider. It was gnarly. His hand swole up like a catcher's mit with finger nails. It turned black and looked dead. I don't care who you are, you don't want none of that.

I think the point in killing it was so that he could make a YouTube video about how to kill snakes with your bare hands...views = $$$$

How do you raise kids in those areas?

I turn my back for 5 seconds and my kid is climbing a tree or crawling through bushes.

Nothing too poisonous where we live. Spiders only.

You just gotta teach the kids how to whip 'em. Pick up your toys, ride a bike, go to the potty, whip rattlers... it's just basic parenting. Laughing

Had a guy not too long ago who got hit by a pygmy rattler (bad news) in these parts. By they time I went home, the first day, he had had somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 units of Crofab (anti-venin is expensive). Saved his arm and life though!

He was deer hunting, went to reach for his rifle and got hit.

I bet there are 2-3 rattlesnake festivals here every weekend, at least March-June.

I hate people like this dickhead. I have had my fair share of rattle snake encounters since moving to the prairie. I have killed a few but only if they are being assholes and threatening me or my animals. Now that I've done it a few times I've gotten really good at catching them. No not with my hands. I have a pole and use a plastic dog crate. Then They get driven down to the creek about 5 miles away. Probaly jinx myself for saying this but since I got Milo my barn cat I haven't seen one near the house.
