Cycle News has learned that Justin Brayton will miss the final two rounds of the supercross series due to injuries he suffered at the Monster Energy AMA Supercross rounds in Houston and St. Louis. The JGRMX/Toyota Yamaha rider broke his foot in St. Louis, although he was still able to win his heat race and finish a respectable 11th in the main.
The following weekend in Houston, Brayton crashed in practice and injured his hand and tweaked his knee, causing a tear in his MCL. According to a team source, it’s not know if Brayton will be on the gate for round one of the outdoor Nationals, but he will race the outdoor series as soon as he is fully prepared, the team adding that the injury will heal all by itself without surgery but he has to be careful about stressing the tendon until it is fully healed.
Brayton held the consecutive starts record at 44 straight main events in the Supercross series, until missing the evening program in Houston.
Phillip Nicoletti, who is a member of the Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX Team with support from St. Lawrence Radiology and N-FAB, will continue to sub for Brayton at the remaining rounds.
