Im in the market for a new set of boots. Ive been wearing some sg10s for the longest time and would like to step into the higher end of boots. Ive tried on some tech 10s and love the fit and comfort of them but ive heard mixed stories on durability. I have a plate and six screws in one of my ankles so having a plush ankle area is primo for me. Any info or direction helps!

I have had tech 10s for like 4/5 years. And I love them. Have the same boot this whole time and have not ate threw the soles or had to replaced them. Still in good shape if you take care of them. Wore SG12s at one time and didn't care for them.

I'm basically the exact opposite of the post above. Now on my 3rd pair of SG12s and not interested in Alpinestars again.

I've broke both arches in my feet and with the tech 10s I hurt a lot more riding and after then with sg 12's I'm actually thinking about going with Sidis if I can get my frankun feet in them

I love my gaerne sg12s. That said if i was going to try a different brand boot i think i would go with the new sidi crossfire 3s. Love the look of them and tried on a pair and they felt super comfortable. Cant go wrong with their replacable soles either.

I was a diehard Fox Instinct fan but recently switched to SG12s and really like the extra support.

Had been wearing tech 10s for 5 years, i went through a pair every 10 months (riding twice a week). Bought a set of sg12's and love them. They offer alot more ankle support but there also slimmer and not as bulky as tech 10s.

I have had several pairs of Tech 10s with 100s of hours on them and they have all been indestructible. Great boots!

I purchased some SG12's and am very happy. Tried on the new Tech 7 and it didn't have much in the way of ankle support... So that was a no go.

Very happy with the SG12.

Everytime I see a boot thread I always see the same boot brands posted. Alpinestars, Gaerne, Fox & Sidi. There's a reason for that and it's because they are all well established companies that make great products. Truthfully you can't go wrong with any of the higher end boots.

Before my injury I wore Alpinestars, Fox and TCX boots when they were branded as Oxtar. I didn't care much for the Fox ones but loved my Tech 8's and my Oxtar/TCX boots.

Not sure why more people don't step away from the main brands and try other boots like the TCX or Forma boots. All great quality products especially when you buy the higher end products.

If you have a chance to try them out that's your best option. Buy what is the most comfortable boot for you.

Love my SG12's. I have no reason to consider any other brand. I wore Alpinestars for 10 years previously.

Sidi SR2's. These were my first high end boot and I absolutely love them. Very durable and surprisingly comfortable. Sizing is a little odd though. I typically wear an 11.5 in most shoes and a 12 in nikes and had to get a 12.5 in the Sidis. And it took me a little bit to get used to the solid toe cap where you can't wiggle your toe. Great boots though.

Depends on the bike you ride a bit to I think with the tech 10s. First off I love t10s but I have a new pair with 5 rides and the rubber side panel is chunking out already cause it catches the airbox on the newer yz 2 strokes. Who knows, maybe I ride like a clown, but I broke my airbox and boots at this point lol. Think I'm gonna switch boots because of this though.

I have SG-10's and SG-12's. For some odd reason, I prefer the SG-10's...

I have Sidi Crossfire 2 SRS and they are by far the best boot I've ever owned.

The Alpinestars boots I've had in the past have been so stiff you had no feel for the controls.

If I had to buy something other than Sidi's I would probably buy a pair of SG12's

I used to wear Tech 8s then upgraded two years ago to SG12s. While the SG12s are very comfortable and give good ankle support, the toe box area on the left boot is way too stiff for me to feel the shifter properly. This is the case even after a couple of years using them. Maybe that won't bother you though?

Cheers

I have this exact problem on the 16 125. Rode a pair for 5 years on couple different 250fs no problem whatsoever, new boots new bike rubber peeled right off the sides.
