I'll start this off by saying this is just a though that I and its not based on any rumor I heard.

But the coming release of the KTM 350SX and the recent trend of soo many people getting hurt got me thinking. First I agree with what was said that a possible cause of all these injuries is that the 450s are so good and so powerfull that people are doing things and jumping things they have no business jumping.

There is no way the manufactures will change all 450s to 350s. the 450s are awesome and they are in all our blood now. But maybe this might bring back the 3 classes in all there glory. Its not interesting when the mx1 guys ride the same bikes as the mx3 guys in europe, seems kinda pointless. lets be honest i can see the 350 taking off huge with everyone, 450 can be a lot to handle, and having a lighter bike is always better.

So do you think there will be a mx1/mx2/mx3, but with 350/250/450 in the future? have a true open class again? (think of the big bore 450s that might rear there heads Smile

Either way....i've been missing the three classes of 125 , 250 and 500 from the day they left in 93'. Having said that........why the hell don't we have three classes any more? The old days had the 125 and 250 class packed , and the 500 class was more of a side show ( at least in the later years i mean) Even though in the mid to later 80's the 500's were the premier class.

I friggin' miss the three classes to be honest. Watching Stanton , Ward , Larocco , Bradshaw ( for one year) go tar it up on those big bikes was something you really had to see. God damn it , I miss those days.

Tired of having the OEM's make up our minds for us. Give us a fuggin' open class for Christs sake.

With the age limit now raised to 18, it would make perfect sense to have a 15-17yr old 125cc class.

250-350-450 would be too close to be considered 3 separate classes IMO, 125, 250, 500 is the best system

I highly doubt that, even if it is completely unsuccessful in pro racing. KTM has always made unusual sized bikes, I'm sure there will be plenty of people that decide the 350 is the right bike for them, even if its 350xcfw's that are being sold more than 350sx's.

Is that a fact, or just your opinion?
Why would it be, they have been pretty consistent with they 500+ series, with the 150, with the 300s, that 350 is going to be succesful in Europe and will catch up with leisure and practice day riders, as well as the off-road guys (enduro, gncc).

It's definitely a cc my 190 lbs old broken body would enjoy riding.

X 1billion guys!! The FIM is supposed to have one, I do believe DC would want that kind of youth class on 125 2-strokes too. But it's all about the.... The guys who build the bikes and sell them. Not sure they're keen on that, unless they're given 3 years to develop/build 1. So let's plan the Youth class for 2014

125cc Two-Stroke.

250cc any stroke.

251+cc (open) any stroke.

Sorry, I forgot. Logic and common sense have no place in racing.

1 class. Want to see them all racing each other, not a champion that cant podium a different class. Actually 2 classes, Premier-any cc, any stroke. Support-any cc, any stroke. Champ in Support auto move up. Less than top ten in Premier, allowed to move down. I like more racing too, so make them 3 motos per class. Make sure 9th place in Premier makes more than 2nd in Support, encourages move up. Just tv 'highlights' for Support, then Manufacturers and aftermarket not as motivated to spend so much on the 'B' class. It should be all about the Premier class, any cc, any stroke, that makes for the best racing.

3 years for what?
Throw the fuel injection on it, charge the 8 grand they're gonna want and let's go.
If they can hold a good margin on it, and the orders come in, they'll be out in a year.

I think your right about the bike displacements being too close. but as much as i woudl love it, i don't see the 125 making a comeback, not after half the manf. stopped producing them. It woudl be interesting if they slowed the 250s down and dropped their displacement to 200. then you could have 200/350/open. hey and then the 125 that remain might actually have a chance on teh starting line.
