Rumor is Oakland Raiders are looking to partner with UNLV to build a 65,000 seat dome stadium in Vegas. I would hate to see Sam Boyd go with all the tradition, but a downtown venue would make the season finale that much better.

Sounds like nothing more than more leverage to help broker a deal in another city. So far the Raiders have talked about moving to LA, San Diego, San Antonio, now Las Vegas

I'd be surprised if the NFL softened their stance on Vegas

I work at UNLV and I have not heard anything about this... I will ask my POC at Thomas Mack/ Sam Boyd hospitality to see if I can confirm. That would be cool if true.

The story that I read made it seem like a new enclosed stadium is happening with or without the raiders. UNLV home + ?? built with major funding from some casino owners.

I live here in Vegas and there has been some talk about this stadium for a month or two now. But this is the first I've heard about the Raiders coming to town. I do believe it will happen with or without a major sports team

Going to be crazy if Las Vegas has two brand new stadiums with the T-Mobile arena and now a new football stadium, but have no professional sports teams to fill them.

Raiders are NOT going to Vegas.

Not that I care.

Matthes would be pumped though.

The NFL ran by Roger $$$$$$ Goodell. Hell I would not be surprised if they are not called the London Raiders by the time it's over with. The game will never be the same in my opinion.

I've only been to 2 UNLV football games, but both were pretty sparse in attendance except for the "visiting" groups. The numbers I see only show about an 80-85% attendance average so I'd think that it'd be a really empty feeling place during UNLV games.

Maybe there's the thought that a covered stadium would be more "comfortable", especially during the first month of the NCAA season, so more fans would come out to the game if it were more climate controlled.

As much as I despise the Rebels (in-state rivals to my Nevada Wolf Pack), I hope this new stadium comes to fruition. Being closer to the strip and having it covered from the Vegas heat would be great. Sam Boyd Stadium is very outdated and not close to the action of the strip.

I was reading an older article about why UNLV wants to build a new stadium. They think it will help with recruiting and a couple years ago was the thought of maybe being able to join the Big 12. It will would also bring in a lot of huge events like NCAA football national championship, Final Four, Super Bowl, boxing events.

I wish that they would take the Chargers instead. I am tired of hearing their billionaire owner whine about needing the tax payers to kick in more money to build him a new stadium and make him even more wealthy. The faster they get out of here the better.

A stadium and an arena are pretty different things, usually.

The Oakland-LA-Oakland Raiders are the "Street Corner Whores" of the NFL. The ghost of Al Davis is still ruining that franchise.

The NFL, in general, is a Glamorous Shit-Show and makes me see the true "game" in College and High School football.

But, that's jus' me...
