I'm probably beating a dead horse here, but who has predictions for the two (that I know of) new Americans that'll be racing at Matterley this weekend? I know 800 is racing and Darian Sanayei is racing the MX2 class. I think Alessi is anywhere 10-15 and good starts, and I think Darian will be somewhere in that range. Will be interesting to see how Covington and Sanayei match up since they both raced Am's together.

Yeah one of my buddies trains down at ClubMX with him and I saw an article on it awhile back. He's riding Mel Pocock's bike.

Wish the yanks luck and hope for no injuries. What I've seen so far in the series is that the GP boys are a pack of junk yard dogs that race for blood. Fast sumbitches. Go fast and stay safe fellers.

I think top 10 is definitely a possibility for Alessi at a track like Matterley. As for Sanayei, I don't really know much about him at all, so I won't even try and make a prediction. Best of luck to him

I am pretty stoked to see some USA riders come over and try to race some rounds! (big respect for Covington who's allready doing this fulltime)
That said i don't see Alessi doing that much damage, as we saw with RV the front runners are very competitive. He does have an ability to holeshot quite often so this might help him out a bit. Top 10 should be doable but i don't see much more then that happening .. No comments on Darian Sanayei from me i know nothing about him neither have i ever seen him ride as far as i remember.

I put Mike at an 8th overall for this weekend. He's a good starter and Matterley is a high speed track. Thomas Covington can also do some damage at this track, been good in the quali races this season. Needs to get good starts and keep it on two wheels when it matters.

I'll be shocked if MA800 cracks the Top 10 OA
Ill be surprised if he cracks top 7, I have him in the 8-11 range.
8-11 range sounds about right, but only for one moto. After all, this is Mike "Just Kidding!" Alessi we're talking about. Don't get me wrong, I wish the dude the best of luck.. however consistency (and the laws of physics) are always seeming to work against him

I think Alessi will do pretty good at this given track

Even top five, maybe.

I'm very interested to see how Sanayei stacks up against Covington and the other MX2 boys. I don't think Darian and TC have raced each other before, but if I remember correctly their LL laptimes were pretty evenly matched. Also, does anybody know if Darian scoring points at this GP will affect his eligibility for LL this year?

Darian rode in the EMX 250 Class. Won the 1st race & was 12th in the second race.
The commentators said he was over on a trial for Steve Dixons team. To replace Mel Pocock who is injured.

I was super impressed with Darian. The kid has raw speed & his 1st moto was very impressive. Shame about moto 2 as he was buried deep in the pack. It was drizzling during that moto so vision was a problem for everyone especially if your mid pack. EMX250 is a stacked field. Hope Steve Dixion signs him for the rest of the year.

Decent ride from that kid. Hope he gets a deal worked out so he can show his speed.

It's a tough class, winning one and being midpack in the next isn't unusual. I doubt he will better than covington, if he rides Mx2

What exactly are the EMX classes and how do they fit into the picture vs MX1 & MX2??

Great to see another ClubMX rider (Darian) making headlines..

EMX2 is the ultimate step before MX2.

Yes & no. If you're young or made the step to MX2 too soon and need to get your confidence back then yes. A few riders have aged out of MX2 so they drop down to EMX250, so in that scenario then no. Either way the class is super competitive.

No age limit in EMX2 class is absolutely ridiculous regarding Youthstream's strategy for both MX1 and MX2 categories...
