I've been around a long time and hate to say this but MX needs some changes to stay current in todays environment......
1. One moto format 20 minutes (after qualifiers)
2. Five Pro Classes
a. 125 cc
b. 250cc
c. WMX Open Class
d. 450 cc
e. Open Class

Next, we need to bring back the "overall" that actually means something. I certainly understand the effort (and expense) put forth by each team and rider per moto, but if we are to have a two moto format, then the average should still be in play for the overall and for which points are awarded. If not, then don't call it moto 1 and moto 2. It's actually 'Round 1, Round 2" so on and so forth, and the "overall" doesn't mean anything except for rider bonuses.
Wouldn't this also solve other issues such as longer recovery time between motos, time for track prep, better TV coverage, and possibly the opportunity to bring back the WMX? The ladies are relevant folks, and at the pro level, I would venture to say that they can smoke 90% of us on this board!
Just thinking out loud!

if you think otherwise your just being pretentious about motocross' importance, or being narcissistic by projecting your interests onto the world.
PEOPLE ARE NOT AS INTERESTED IN MX AS THEY ONCE WERE. Thats all there is to it. It's way more organic and ingrained into the culture for a stupid ass format change to make a bit of difference. thats just a naive notion.
