Looks like the new 2018 RMZ450 will be announced tomorrow with a Facebook Livestream.
Anyone know what the WS stands for in RMZ450WS?

I hope it's the all new Suzuki and not just their race bikes for this season.

That is what I think it is - just the new race bikes - when have we seen new year model introduced in February?

Well they could do an "KTM", or "Honda last year". Race the next years bike now.

Bobryshev raced the 2017 Honda the last few races in 2016. Todd Waters raced the 2016 Husqvarna in 2015 etc.

Michael Pichon raced the new design 2001 Suzuki in the 2000 GP's, and I believe we saw it in pictures late 1999.
Fred Bolley and some English guy raced the 2000 CR throughout the 1999 season.
I have seen examples from the 80's and 90's of this happening several times.

Team bikes or not, you'll be looking at the '18 production bike (in principle) anyway.
Suzuki have done that many many times over the years- the team ride the 'new' model the previous year to it being available to buy...

Everts 1992
Bervoets 1995
Pichon 2000
Smets/Leok 2004
Not sure they did in 2007 with the new bike being out in 2008...

Each of those years above, these riders raced the pre-prod new model for the following year. I expect exactly the same this year.

European (Japanese) factory teams always add letters after the displacement number, for whatever reason.
I believe the kawi is a KX450SR and Honda calls theirs the CR450RW

You're probably right. I just remembered Yamaha calls theirs the YZ450FM.

Quote from Stribos on MX Large interview.
"There were rumours about racing at Hawkstone Park with a completely new bike, maybe Model year 2018? Can you tell us something? If yes, have you already tested it?

"I can’t tell a lot about that but we will unveil the bike friday before hawkstone park. I’m very excited to show it. Yeah we tested the bike straight after the MXON and it feels different, a lot lighter, even easier to handle…
We will still need some time to test it more but i can’t wait to ride it. Just wait and see."

I think it's just gunna be the new mxgp bike. Would love it to be a all new 450 but I'm sceptical.

Well, just going off what vague details of the bike you can see in the picture, it looks to at least have new bodywork.

And no decals, no numbers, looks pretty production to me.

Didn't Grant Langston switch to the 08 YZ at Southwick in 07? Villopoto the 12 model at Unadilla in 11?
