I know there were threads speculating, and projecting the numbers, but has the AMA released the official list? Or is there a hold up with the selection process? Is there a deadline?

Sorry, have not seen/heard anything lately, just curious.

Thanks

I'm surprised nobody has brought up the thought of what number Tomac will run as he is now eligible for a single digit. I personally think that 8 looks real good on him and we all know it's up for grabs!

He is running the 8 in the MXDN and he said that he drew the 8 ball. I kinda like the 8 ball as a nickname for him. Not big on nicknames though so I don't really care if that happens.

I like the 17. Switching numbers isn't all it's cracked up to be.

The new system kind of bugs me. I wish the riders didnt avoid single digits like the plague. Was bummed when Wilson chose 15.

I could see Tomac running 43 as it was his number throughout the amateurs. That'd be pretty cool since it was also the number I ran when I started racing 19 years ago, but I understand the honor that comes with being able to run a single digit number.

he could have chosen 43 last year, but he chose 17 instead, so i doubt he would go back to 43 this year,

I like the # 8, looks good on the des nations bike,

Do the 250 SX Regionals count. I thought they did not since they were not national series.
Maybe this rule changed but that is what is use to be.

They started counting 250 SX points last year (2012).

3.3 National Numbers
a. All riders must use the competition number that has been assigned for the current season. This includes the Championship number 1, career number or an earned national number.

b. Number 1
1. Current Champion must run the #1.

c. Numbers 2-9
1. Past Champions from the previous competition year may choose a permanent single digit career number if available.

d. Career Numbers
1. Riders who finish in the top 10 in Championship points from the combined 450SX, 250SX, 250MX and 450MX classes from the previous competition year will have priority for the selection of a National two digit available number for the their career number.
2. Riders who fail to earn at least 25 championship point during the season preceding the new season will lose their career number and be issued a new number based on current points. Special consideration is given to a rider if he/she is confirmed with a season long injury or other special circumstance which prevents him from competing that season.

e. Numbers10-999
1. Riders who finish outside the top 10 but in the top 100 will be assigned consecutive two digit numbers until the supply of two digit numbers are exhausted.
2. The total combined points from the 450SX, 250SX, 450MX and 250MX classes will be used to determine the order. National numbers are then issued according to highest to lowest total points. In case of riders having the same amount of total points the tie is broken by the best Moto finish for those riders. In the event you have a rider that rode just SX and one that rode SX and Motocross, the tie would go to the rider that rode both series.

f. Lower 100 #’s
1. Held for top riders from overseas that would like to participate in that year’s SX or MX.
