New painting of Danny "Magoo" Chandler from his Maico days, jumping the Magoo Double uphill jump at Nationals at Saddleback Park California.

Danny was the only rider to consistently hit and clear this jump that was named after him.

This 30" x 20" Oil on Linen canvas painting was commissioned by Kris Egbert who plan's to donate it to the AMA Hall of Fame Museum in Pickerton Ohio, to be displayed alongside one of Danny's original Maico's his long time mechanic Bill DaPrato restored for Kris.

Kris has talked about releasing a limited edition of giclee art paper prints, signed & numbered by artist Rob Kinsey. Post your comments on here about this painting and let us know if you would like a print?

Nice, Rob.
A double legend with Danny and Saddleback Park.
Sounds like it will be a cool display at the museum.

A print, signed and numbered...maybe as a fund-raiser for one of the fallen-rider charities...?

Give me a price, I'll take 2.

Thanks!

Outstanding work Rob!

I was at Saddleback that day and there was never a dull moment when Magoo was in the race. Cool

He was the first for sure. (I was there that day.) But only? Not so sure about that.

The caption over the 2nd painting is so wrong, Hannah hit it 2 laps after Magoo hit it the first time, hell we were all hitting it a week later.

I think he is saying he was the only guy to hit it every lap. Hannah hit it, but not every lap. Danny hit it every lap right up until he tossed it away.

I raced the following week on my 80 and it wasn't even part of the track.

Danny was the only rider to consistently hit and clear this jump that was named after him.

I was born 2 years after this happened so enlighten me on the commonality of riders to jump the Magoo double and the word "consistently."

Debate that statement, not whatever you guys are babbling about.

Nice painting...I remember that pic and another one where he tried to jump it in practice, with a muddy track and fog, and broke his nose. RIP Magoo

Thanks for all the great comments and print requests. I wasn't there that day and only retold the story as I read in MXA.
Yes others were jumping this big uphill double, like Hannah and co, but I read Danny was the only rider to try it every lap!
Funny, but I don't recall it being called the "Hannah double"?Wink

I'm interested. It would make a great adder to my ACERBIS track marker from the 2007 MXON Danny signed for me.

Another photo of the Magoo double which I just found while going through some old stuff. I took this in about 1982 or so.
