Gotta say after watching all of the racing this weekend and I do mean all of it as I gladly pay for the NBC gold package and the mxgp deal as well that the actual racing excitement has to go to the mxgp guys at this moment as I swear the 450 class is balls out racing, bar banging, and going for it all the way to the checkers every Moro and I love all motocross from pewees to our bad boys rolling glen helen yesterday!!! Don't know what it is that keeps those guys so close together usually while race and they are flat out hailing the mail just like our guys too!! Anyway, great weekend of lots of racing period on both sides of the pond!!! Peace out Brian lady and have awesome holiday!!

I'm with Crusty.

MXGP is better than the 450 class in the US
The 250 class in the US is stronger than MX2

It's been an amazing weekend of racing. Both of the tracks got incredibly rough and there were some interesting results.

You cant fault the MXGP guys for racing to the end, Herlings getting back to pass JVH after crashing was awesome, seems like the AMA guys go flat out for 3 laps and settle, and the 'run their laps' these days .

Aside of J Mart, it was all a bit static IMO.. plenty of races to go though.

450 AMA class is going through a drought right now. A lot of the old top guns are out, RD just quit and the fastest MX rider on earth may never be himself again. That being said GP tracks always lead to closer racing. That has been the biggest difference for awhile. Tilling tracks deep makes a huge difference it makes the super fast guys shine and everyone else is way off. Millville 2013 was prepared more like a GP and the racing was real close.

Ferrandis would be yarding them all , and Herlings yarded him by 30 secs a moto. MX2 is great racing but its an age class, now Herlings , Anstie and Ferrandis are up, its not the speed it was. Loads of talent though, and then there are the EMX guys that should be in there too... Charbonneau and Weltin are getting smoked week in week out .

The depth is 10x the 250 class, but the speed isnt where it was.

Honestly fellas, the argument of which series has the best/fastest riders is past stupid. All the riders in both AMA/GP are crazy fast. Once a year we get to see them head to head at the MXdN and that's what makes that race so special. That one off race doesn't answer all the questions but it'll do for me.

Being an American....I just so happen to love our series. I wish we had a little more variance on some of the track prep / soil. But I love watching the MXGP stuff too. Hell , I love watching the moto's up in Canada too.

Why can't we love all of it? Why does it have to be a dick measuring contest?

Some weekends , one series provides better racing , and the next week it could be the other one.

" Support the sport! "..Not just one series , and not just one rider! A true fan loves it all!

Both series do what they say on the tin. There is no debate really. They are just different and both deserve respect.

The MXGP series is the world championship for motocross, the measuring stick for outdoor racing.

The US nationals are the best national championship in the world. A similar level to MXGP but the US nationals are a more specialised product favouring US riders and one style of track.

For me MXGP is the premier series for outdoor racing due to it's variety and diverse challenges from country to country and track to track. It really determines who the best in the world is.

The other biggest difference is in MXGP the riders priority is outdoors so they are all in for that championship from February to September.

In the USA supercross is the priority from October to May and some just do SX only. That's why the depth in MXGP is higher than the 450 MX class., 450 teams in the USA sign supercross riders over outdoor specialists. But the top guys in the US are obviously going to be contenders in MXGP too. Fast is fast.

As for as the 250 class I think it's pretty similar, Jonass is as fast as Ferrandis and Seewer ran with both Martin brothers at the end of last season. However due to the age rule you have more experienced guys in the 250 class in the USA. which creates an interesting dynamic.

I think MX2 might have the edge in depth though, it's great to see all the young talent step up from EMX2. There are so many good young riders coming through with Mewse, Prado, Olsen, Lawrence, Hsu in MX2 with Geerts, Horgmo, Haarup and many more on the way.

All in all it works out much of a muchness and both are great to watch.

It's nice to watch the US stuff and have the change from supercross to motocross to mix things up.

If there is one more ducking thread started debating the merits of MXGP vs. US MX I'm going to start a thread lambasting people that debate the merits of both series. You have all been sternly warned.

Post a reply to: Mxgp vs nationals!!
