Looking to get a nice van to use a daily driver, haul some bikes, and pull my race trailer.

I've had a few Motovans before, so this isn't my first rodeo.

I got two that I'm interested in.

A 2007 gmc 3500 with the 6.0, 125k miles, 4x4 quigley package, and has the wheels already, and the door I like. Can get it for about $12,500. Just not sure I can even finance that much since the nada is like 10,500. I know the quigley package adds value. Just consirned how much value in terms of resale.

Then there's a 2011 e250 with 90k miles. Not sure if it's the 4.8 or 5.4. I have a 24ft enclosed trailer, so if it's the 4.8 not sure if that would be good for towing. Can get it for about $11k. Nada is $13,800 on it. Just would have to ad wheels.

So what I'm looking for, is a quigley van worth the investment? Resale wise. Also, only had 2500/e250's, does a 350 cost more for insurance or to register or anything like that?

Looking for some steals, can't find anything...

Thanks-Matt

The best for a Daily Driver i would go with the e250 for being better on gas. That 6.0 wants to stop at every gas station you pass. What is the Trailer for if you have a Van? Not trying to be noisy but having a van i would think eliminates the trailer. I have a motovan that i drive every day, but its a Chevy express 4.3. Great on gas but i'm not pulling a trailer.

I would pick the '07 GMC i think the van has had less workload than the '11 e250
And you can be sure it's able to pull your enclosed trailer

The Ford all day. Wait, is it the 3 valve? I'd still take it over the GMC .

The 3 valve had 2 bad years, 04,05. The cam chain tensioner blew out the gasket and would let the chain wad.

Going with the gmc. Clean car fax and dealer agreed to do 12k OTD. Other guy was private and not budging on price.

Trailer is for camping when the wife and kids go . Got a 24ft enclosed with it sectioned off into a camper in the front.

The 6.0 can't get much worse gas than my 15mpg highway I'm getting currently with my 2006 expedition with a 5.4

The quigley package is like $13k plus to get it installed. Checked craigslist, the ones I saw were older, lot more miles, and close to $20k.

The Ford vans never got the 3 valve motor. They used the early 5.4 modular starting in 1997 and continuing until the Econoline was replaced by the Transit.

Of course finding a 7.3 IH diesel would be the ultimate motovan setup in a Ford but they are hard to find and they were replaced in 2003 by the cursed 6.0 that is slightly less reliable than the 2004 KX250F.

Lol, nice reference. I'm a Ford truck guy but I would never, ever buy a modern Ford diesel.

No shit, they made that one, well,it was a tractor engine ,that was good.

But,I'd never ever have a diesel .

The 4.6,5.4 2v and 4v are killer engines. GM is still stuck in 1950s pushrod junk.

Toss a blower on a modular and rip the pavement up.

Must not know about the quigley 4x4 conversion then.

Wheels also had 15 miles on them only.

What's the best way to sell the shelving? Guess just craigslist. Also has a huge power inverter deal with a battery in the back, not sure if it's worth anything....

I'm sort of with you, I'd skip the 6.0 and 6.4's but I'm on my second 6.7 and love the things. The current one is a early build 2011 so first run and other then regular maintenance all I've had to do was starter and one egt sensor I think. It's got over 167,000 miles on it and will pull a house down.

Just saw this thread, forgot about it.

Van must have been under priced if anything, ended up selling it for $15,500, guy flew down from up north to get it.

I make money on a lot of things I sell. But when I get a car from a dealer I usually loose a lot. Made $4,000 this time.

On the search for a new Motovan now.

How many miles would a 2003 Ford 5.4 be good for?

man you won't find a Quigley for that price...go to autotrader and look them up....hell you got a steal on that van. some of the Quigley van prices are through the roof especially if you manage to locate a 7.3 diesel 4x4.

I've had both vans, both engines. Minus the quigley conversion. The Chevy is by far the better van in all ways except the brakes, you will warp the rotors going to 7-11.

I was wrong then. I just picked up a 2004 with awd. How do I find out if it's a quigley?

It would have quigley badges on it, and the huge shifter in the floor, for 4wd low, high, etc.

I may be getting a 2003 e350 today, not sure though. It has 208k miles, not sure if that's too much

Depends on who drove it and who maintained it. My 06 express 2500 has 261k runs and drives perfect

If it's a half ton, they came in an awd version from the factory. 3/4 and 1 ton are all conversions.
