Hey guys, I'm new to vitalmx and want to get some opinions on motocross helmets. I race quads in motocross but have considered going to bikes. But anyway, I'm looking for a different shape mx helmet, I have a long oval head shape and I tried a Shark RSI helmet in a street bike helmet that fits really well. But in a motocross I can't seem to find one that fits well. Can you guys recommend any mx helmets to me to try that has a long oval shape to them? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks guys.

Bell Moto 8 fits well for me. You can find them at motorcyclecloseouts.com for for over 50% off right now!

If the Shark street helmet fits well, see if that shop carries any of their MX helmets as well....should be a good bet (unless you tried one on and it didnt fit like the street version). Shoei is also good for a more oval-shaped head. I use a Shoei VFX-W and love it.

Do you have a long oval head shape? Is the Bell moto 8 pretty narrow from side to side?

Just wear the streetbike helmet, your on a quad so it won't look out of place.

Don't sweat it man....there just playing with ya. It's kind of a tradition around here to mess with the new guys.

As far as helemts go , i haven't used or bought any new ones in the past 4 years or so , but the ones i really liked and used were the TLD ( Troy lee designs) and the shoei's ( VFX i think?) I know 661 makes some great helmets as well. I can't speak on the newer Bell helmets , but i didn't really care for the older 5 and 6 models to much as they didn't fit my head all that well.

Honestly , the best thing to do is make a trip over to a bike shop that has a huge selection and start test fitting them. Get a GOOD brand name , not some knock off junk. Plan on spending any where from $300.00 - $600.00 i would think.

UK, i see your in Newport, Ky, I'm probably about an hour and 45 minutes from you. Where is the best bike shop that has a large selection of helmets around your area? Thanks guys. Ah no big deal about being the new guy, its cool, I'm actually thinking about trying bikes.

Ok, we will switch it up a little. I guess I will just have to check the helmets out at the shop. Anyway, I've raced quads for many years, if I think about going to a bike and going to race, what would you guys recommend for a first bike? As far as experience, never raced bikes, but quads I've done everything. Thanks.

The new Thor helmets are amazing, the old ones I'm not too sure about but the new ones work great.
