This is not to start a flame war, but an honest question. Please do not turn this into flame war. I have been coming here off on for the last few years, but do not post often.
Ok here is my question. Why is there so much hate against quads here? I have been racing motocross for over 20 years, and have raced both bikes and quads and both on the same day at the same race. I do not get the hate, Motocross is Motocross. And we should all be working to make the sport bigger as a whole, not fighting each other.
Why does it need to go to the Dumbgeon? Can you not give an honest answer without being a smart ass? I am asking a serious question. If I missed why so many of you hate quads some time in the past, I am sorry I missed that reason. I do not come into your post and be a smart ass. Moto is Moto. I am not some stupid quad guy coming here and asking, though I do and have raced both. I am not trying to say one is better than the other Moto is Moto. I am not trying to change your minds about quads, just wondering why the hate.
Nothing pisses me off more then when me and my moto buds are at a local practice track/pit whatever and then some fat slob on a quad wearing jeans shows up, starts riding the track backwards and almost kills someone. And they NEVER have any packing in their muffler which is the most obnoxious thing to deal with combined with the fact that it attracts unwanted attention. I know they have every right to ride too but I sure don't like it.
The stereotype quad is riding around in blue jeans with a gun rack, drinking a beer and go the wrong direction on trails. At the very best, quads screw up the good lines on a track. They just don't mix. Just watch the music video when you get done at "work".
It's because they've done dumb/bad stuff to us MXers and it stayed. It's like how almost everyone pictures a iraqi or Afghanistani as a terrorist that flies planes, while they're not. They just have a bad name. Yes they do destroy corners, and yes they don't wear safety gear. That's only some of them and they drag the rest down. They're still gay though. And you know how the wheels on a quad make a square? That's what the riders are. Dirtbikes have two wheels, making a STRAIGHT line.
Thank you for some straight answers. I have heard some of these before, but just never could understand why 2 wheelers hated some one else trying to have fun doing moto even with a couple extra wheels. I understand the whole riding in jeans, and riding the wrong direction part. I also hate the riders that can not ride without a cooler full of beer. Serious quad riders do not like them type of riders either. Kinda like this whole side by side deal, it lets more people out on the trail that have no business being there. They have no trail etiquette and feel because they have a roll cage they can be Evel Knievel. But I do not hate on the side by side people, I try to educate them on the proper way to do things. As I also own a Can Am Commander. I like to ride all disciplines of dirt bike/ATV /UTV.
Oracle- only if the quad is on a motocross track.
NeWschoolmxer No idea who that is, but he looks like a squid.
I have mad respect for the guys who can ride quads at the pro level because it is very difficult. With that being said though I hate it when quads destroy a perfectly good rut. As long as the quads are not on a perfectly good motocross track with dirtbikes at the same time I am ok with them.
Not sure at the track (since we rarely have quads) but in trail riding, given enough time quads will transform a nice technical single track into a wide boring forest road. And unfortunately, several of them will toss their empty beer cans all over the place.
It only take a few to give a bad name to the many.
man who runs in front of bus gets tired. man who runs behind bus gets exhausted
Are you really from Jerusalem,Ohio? That's my families home town. As for Quads.Yes,out here in LA some of these guys will smoke many of the 2 wheelers. But even THEY piss us off because of the damage they do to ruts and berms.
Yes I am really from Jerusalem, Ohio. What is your families name? It is a small community, so I probably know who they are.
I see your points, from riding/racing both never gave many of the points much thought. And trust me I hate the beer cans every where, I have pissed off a few riders for leaving their cans behind, to me that is unacceptable. I was at Hatfield n McCoy riding last weekend and they have some single track only trails.
Thank you all for not making this a flame war.
