Lots of good candidates.

RV - Coming back from injury and kicking ass, riding great and winning races
Stewart - Like RV out almost a year and winning races
Canard - Rookie and doing amazing
Reed - Doing so well on his own team
Dungey - Being as fast as RV and JS at times
Hansen - Basically turning his career around
These are just examples so there is probably many others.

Its a tough decision but I got a go with RV, I'm not positive exactly why but I think kind of the total package, riding solid, fast, coming through the pack, running JS speed, to me he seems even better than last year. All good stuff and we are the beneficiaries of a good season.

Josh Hansen

after last year we all knew he was fast but not consistant, but this year he has really impressed me. Not because of his wins, but how he won.

I have to go with Villo. He just keeps coming back and dialing it up, just like he did in '09 at Glen Helen.

Brayton is doing awesome, 2 heat wins and a 4th (not that I doubted him)
Hanson has surprised me too

Roczen, I fully expected the speed, knew the crashing would be a part of it and he is adapting quite well. I'm impressed

and for you kids in fantasy leagues, how many GP's are mud slogs? How many German masters races are mud slogs?
What rider do you think will have the most experience in snotty mud?

Yes but up until last week he was one of the most impressive to me.

Roczen will be good in the mud, usually one heavy mudder a year basicly, when I say mudder, I mean monsoon.

Rattray could do very well today.

Hansen, cleaning it up, taking care of business, and punting anyone that gets in his way.

I will go with Bruce Rutherford breaking the top ten 2 weeks in a row on a basically stock bike. All the big guys are expected to get good results and most already have in the past. Cole Seeley is really impressive this year also.

RV for sure. The fact he is consistently faster than everyone apart from Bubba speaks volumes about his determination after that harsh injury. Hanson in the Lites, with him being so dominant this year, it feels like hes been winning races for ages but think about how much he's improved since last season, he was throwing races away all over the place last year! He was riding like Tim Henman/Billy Mac. Flashes of brilliance then threw it away! Wink

I think Trey for being in the mix in one of the most stacked fields in quit some time, and RV for improving while rehabbing.

I would have to say Brayton. He is doing really well as long as he stays on two wheels. I didn't doubt him he did pretty good last season and this is only his second 450 sx season so he can only get better with experience. It is a contract year for him so i hope he can resign with JGR or get on another really good team.

I can't believe how fast Cunningham is riding.
Cunningham has always been fast though.

I think Wey is the biggest surprise. he has been around the top ten and to be honest i thought he would have a hard time making the main this yr.

In the lites class Roczen has been pretty exciting. The rest of the riders bore the shit out of me including the cherry picker of the decade Hanson. What a joke that guy is.

How can you not be impressed with Brayton? The guy is flying and has stepped up his speed big time. He has had problems in the mains but as far as stepping it up speed wise, I reckon Brayton is the most impressive.

I gotta agree with you two. While we expected the front runners to be at the front (although we would argue about the order to put them in), who even knew who Bruce Rutherford was before Pala last year.
bruce
I think the interview comment of the year (so far) has to go to the novic gloves crew (a sponsor of Bruce's) at throttlejunkie.com in their interview of Bruce. "Bruce and his father were franticly trying to change out the handlebars that had been bent in practice, with a pair that was slightly less bent off of his spare bike."
Here is the complete interview:
