Most Technical rider

Edited Date/Time 3/9/2015 3:00pm
In the "Can we agree than RV and TC..." thread, we were talking about the best riders. I want to have your opinion about the most technical one. I say that its AC or RV on 450 followed by Paulin. I'm going with Cianciarulo on the 250.

MM25 on the 250.... seriously a bad ass fluid technical rider

And you cannot count out Dungey either on the 450.... very calculated always hits his marks and very precise!

Reed has to be up there even if his speed isn't quite where it used to be a couple of years ago. His technique is supreme.

Underrated technical rider: Josh Grant.

I watched the dude in practice at San Diego and saw him snap off jump combinations that no one else tried. He seems to do this often.

Only 1 mention of js7?

Some people seem to forget how technical of a rider he is. He is the most technical.

Just when you start to think you know how Jarid operates, he goes and does something that's completely leftfield... Smile

If it does not have to be current, I will start with KDub! I would politely disagree with the JS7 though. I am a fan of the insane stuff he pulls off that no one else will even try, but if you are that technical you should not hit the dirt so much.

You are mixing up smooth with technical.

JS7 reinvented so many techniques you have to put him up there. Dungey and Reed are smooth riders, K-dub was super technical and also smooth as well. I think alot of people are getting "smooth" and "technical" mixed up. Some guys have both. Musquin is buttery smooth and has perfect technique. I wouldn't put RV or AC in the top 10....Yes Stewie..Taddy for sure!

KDub is my vote. Although Dungey is extremely technical. it is very showing with how much control he shows 100% of the time.

Dungey is consistant, fluent, smooth... not super technical. A lot of people here seem to forget what Technical means and what fluent, consistant and smooth mean.

I watch Justin Hill ride and think he's pretty damn technical.

I would say KW14 is up high on the list of most recents.

I highly disagree with RV being mentioned in this category as I think he is the opposite of technical. He uses the bike's power and his muscles to wrestle the bike into doing what he wants. If you think that is a technical riding style, then yes he is. But when I think of technical, I think of someone who is super precise, has picture-perfect form, and flows extremely well around the track - never looking to be out of place or out of balance and only exerting as much energy as needed. To me, this is Musquin, Dungey, JS7 (when he's on)

Reed, RD, KW and CP...there rarely make errors on very technical tracks.

I guess we'll agree to disagree. I'm not sure what you consider technical vs. smooth and consistent. To me, smooth and consistent is a result of proper technique. Which is where I give Dungey credit. You don't see much flash out of him, but he is winning the damn thing one way or another and doesn't look like he's having much trouble.

CP's standing on the pegs style is right up there. JS has the scrub but the french top riders have him covered on the rest.

That doesn't make sense.

He does more technical shit, than anyone on the track. Watch Toronto...rewind it, and watch again.

He hits the dirt more often, because he takes risks noone else does. If he followed typical lines KW14 or the rest of the guys does, that'll make him more technical?

When Everts went around the outside of Stewart, standing up, that looked pretty technical.

This would be a good question for current and former pros. Not sure Vital is the best place for accurate answers Laughing

MC was the smoothest and most technical rider I ever watched. If you looked at his rear wheel in turns it was like he had ABS. Also his timing and flow in SX was unbelievable. Kdub had this also but not to the same extent. These days I think Dungey is very smooth, Reed has his moments.

The other end are the brawlers. I'd put guys like JS7, Poto, Pieck, Cooper Webb (although CW is very smooth at times too) Barcia and Carmichael into this category. love him or hate him, bowers is probably the modern day King of the brawlers.
