it would be better to go to the team's website and send them an email. Team Gus,if still helping privateers, may be a man to reach out to.

Generators like that require lots of velocity up the intake tract, you gotta pump the throttle hard to get it fired up!

Way to go Joseph! This is a smart way to do it. So many are not able or interested to delay gratification (pay, etc...)

Work hard and you will be rewarded in the long run.

Get out to the practice tracks in Cali with your tools and resume and start making introductions. Be ready to work that minute. Offer to pressure wash bikes or do air filters (no one on earth likes to do that).

Biggest thing is to be ready at all times and have a great attitude. Always ask for more work!

Good luck.

This may be an unconvential method, but what about contacting training facilities and see if they're in need of any in-house mechanics? Lots of fast guys are in and out of there constantly and you never know what riders and companies may come along.

If a team is not interesting, maybe check the stats from lorettas etc to see if a super fast mini is near you and needs help. Maybe you will learn more that way, maybe less, a lot depends of who "manages" you.

Then on the track, I would also suggest to anticipate the demand of the rider. i.e. pushing for testing, doing various practice methods, line analysis, cardio, diet, etc. All the little things that makes a big difference mentally.

In all cases, good to try this, and for sure within a few years you will be much more skilled and with a better resume as a mechanic.

Probably a little late for you to make the commitment but you should be at Mini O's. There are TONS in need of a tech while at that race...helps if you already know a few people though. When I was a race tech I started with one team and worked for three during the major races. I met the other two at Mini O's and continued the relationship with them at other nationals as everyone goes to the same races.

You might need to run something up the exhaust and see if she loosens up a bit. Some of them only get going once its been cleaned out.

I had a generator just like that. very high maintenance. very very picky and always had annoying sounds coming out of the intake. traded it for a more heavy duty model turns out that might have not been the best move.

sometimes I find a hand crank one is the best solution.
