Real? With so many bikes on craigs list stating pro ownership its hard to believe any of the ads. What do you think?

That was his correct address for the time period.

Seems legit to me but I wouldn't pay $5k for a 96 CR250, even if the seat still smelled like McGrath's taint. That's absurd. There is nothing special about this bike and, unless you have a massive hard-on for McGrath and want to build a personal collection of McGrath memorabilia, this would be a dumb buy.

The price doesn't seem too bad to me if everything is legit. However, I think we are supposed to go buy NEW two strokes guys. Stay off craigslist!

So if it smelled like MCs taint it would have more value to you? And how exactly is it that you could identify said smell?

Correct. I started bottling the smell of McGrath's sweaty taint back in the mid 90's. I am the world's foremost expert on the smell of McGrath's taint. DM me if you would like a professional analysis.

5g? If u ride the bike every 3rd weekend for a year only that's still cheap. Those 96 CR's are AWESOME. Put twin chambers reeds and a pipe and it'll hang right with a new bike. And probably out corner said new bike. Lol

Small world, Todd Barsby a friend of mine is also on the title. Todd also live in Canyon Lake the same time as MC2.

Nice bike for a "big" McGrath fan.

Well, I can only think of one way, and even if Jeremy knew it was coming, I don't think he'd be all that pleased about it. Just a guess on my part, though. Call him up.

Looks legit but why would he be getting a Honda from HOT? The Suzuki deal didn't come together until the last few weeks, his Honda contract would have already expired. I don't doubt the bike, just the reason.

Legit? Yeah, right. Just a stock bike with graphics, stock suspension, stock brakes, stock everything... Even the frame guards are over the counter WC and not HRC...

Pete those works replica sprockets were available to the public from Renthal for a short time. However Honda ran factory hubs (obviously) and the hole pattern for the sprocket was different to OEM, thus the sprockets that Honda used were a 1 off pattern that Renthal custom made. But the replicas were readily available from Renthal.

It's got standard 46mm KYB forks and I doubt MC would have ridden a bike out of his garage with those things still in tact. "Applied clamps used for the Paris supercross made special for Honda" umm no I think not. MC ran factory Showa forks at the 96 Paris SX. You can find video evidence of this on youtube although I can't find a still photo at the moment. Pretty certain the factory Showa's were 48 or 49mm in 96 so there's no way they're fitting in those clamps...

As somebody else pointed out....standard wheels, standard suspension, standard PC pipe and silencer (although those old PC silencers with the stinger are RARE), they look like the replica Honda Racing clutch and ignition covers (the factory ones were Mag. and darker), off the shelf WC frame guards (factory FG were different), etc.

It's an OK replica with a set of Applied triple clamps. Nothing more that I can see.

In saying all that, whether some people (Temor a la Mancha) care to believe it, these bikes are awesome and will fetch good money. Someone will pay 5K for it.

Makes me think I should sell mine.....

Didn't MC race the aluminum framed '97 at the '96 Paris/Bercy race?

I know the man well Crush, I doubt he would ever sell it unless it was some crazy number. He put his heart and soul into that bike, I just watched and drank beer as he did it. Woohoo

haha... Good times tho. Love working on bikes! Working on my old 300 when I did that build, sitting in the back yard with my buddy who didn't even like bikes, we just bullshitted, bbq'd and drank beer. Was a great summer!
