I think I shot this at the end of the 450 main as you can see a blurry red bike landing the finish. Lindsy claims there were 40k people there. Matthes said maybe 20k (rough numbers if I remember correctly).

I tend to agree with Steve on this one. This was the lightest SX attendance I have ever seen in my 20 years of sitting in the seats. (save for may be the 99 LA Summercross).

This was 1/4 of the stadium and the other 3/4ths looked identical. Mayube more people have some pics. Just bored at work today.

Like I said I just can't see that. That might have been ticket sales. It is listed as a max cap of 71,500 people. And your number is 51843 so a rough estimate would deduce that the stadium was 71% full?

that is pretty sparse. Gotta be ticket sales at 51k.

That was a rainy day. Probably kept a lot of people at home.

Yup, definitely not about to hold back one iota on his thoughts. His clashing persona with Pauls makes the show.

Yeah they talked about it last Mon, but also just after the SD race Matty and Lindsey went at it originaly.

"Stan" needs to disguise his voice better.

Well I defiantly am not doing this but if your this bored, go to the stadiums site, check how many seats are in a row, and how many rows are in a section. I count 19 empty sections in you pic, multiply, add, truth based on ruff numbers, but defiantly enough accuracy to determine between 30,000 people.

You know I never agree with Matthes, and I still don't. 20,000 is in my mind a high estimate.. lol That picture was taken about where I sat for the race, and there were empty seats all over... I don't know many people who buy tickets, and don't go because the weather might be bad...

If we weren't involved in two armed conflicts, with lots of military guys overseas, imagine how full it would have been. (San Diego and military bases are like peanut butter and jelly.)

By percentage of stadium size, I'd say A2 was a bigger bummer than San Diego.

Last weekend in Indy was really good, and we can usually expect Atlanta to rock. Looking forward to that one.

Hmm? I was there at noon and only saw a little sprinkle on and off till the night show.. Parking lot was dry when I got there.. Rain came for about 15 minutes, then rained again at the end of the night... Maybe it just rained on you?? I took pics all day long and only had to put the camera away a few times, more for drizzle than actual rain... I was at Anaheim 1 when it was a mud bog. No way was it a weather issue. Your saying 30,000 people didn't show because of weather?? In this economy??

San Diego is always a great crowd, there is no other reason but the weather for the lack of attendance I would think.

Did I say 20k? I thought I said 30..anyways, we all know Lindsey's drunk half the time anyways.Tongue

Just before the 450 main, I mean right after the 250 main it started to rain (drizzle) and we were laughing at how funny it was to see people getting out of there. I would say 1/4 people left thinking the rain would continue. The isles were packed with people trying to leave and this photo is at the finish of the 450 main, who ever stays that long? lol.

We were under an overhang but this picture shows mostly open seating with no covering.

When opening ceremonies started I remember telling my wife I couldn;t believe how manypeople were there despite the rain.

Trip- You're crazy (with all due respect of course Smile ) it was pouring (for san diego standards) for a good 45 minutes from about 5 to 5:45 at least. Right when it got dark. I know this because my 4 1/2 year old was couped up in the motorhome and I had to put up with the poutting of him not being able to go outside.

Beats me.. That's FELDS number. How they come to it is probably like you and everyone has said, tickets sold.

Tickets sold is cash, who cares who shows up.

If you don't care about concessions, t shirt sales, etc... then ya tix sold is all that matters.

Yeah I've heard of events down here listing Attendance as Ticket Sales instead of Gate's being rolled over...

That looks pretty empty to me!

I don't understand why the 30k vs. 50k mattered so much and why would it be taboo to point out the fact?

I don't understand a lot of things. For instance why were veiled references made about a "rider" having "family" troubles for the last few months (Milsaps). PED's in Mx, all types of less than stellar references to things happening between riders and other riders chicks. Who knows?

I got a kick out of you two on there.
So is Morias for Daytona a done deal?

I loved hearing kenny vs paul on moving a satellite guy up to the bigs. Their lapper & JLaw/Dungey outlooks were good too.

Something about suzuki down the stretch; they have nobody out there to help dungey.
RV is about to get Chad, Hill is SUPPOSED to get stewie and even if he doesn't factory yami is every blue team in the pits.

Yea pretty much, he's testing now on it and Andrew Short confirmed it in the chatroom.
