I don't get it... Wasn't he contracted to ride for JGR in the first place? Meaning someone filled in for him.

Yeah, it's a bit weird. My guess is that they told Cunningham (Matt's fill-in) he'd be on the squad for all of MX, and now that Matt is healthy and ready to race they don't have a spot for him. So loaning him to RCH was the best option.

Just like when RCH who was supporting Weimer during the off season allowed Weimer to fill in for JGR during the entire Supercross season when they had openings. Quid pro quo.
