^That doesn't look like fading to me.

And he DNF'd 3 laps into moto 2 so...

I don't see him really "dropping anchor" in either of those motos either. Sure his times dropped off slightly but so do almost everyone else's except for a select few guys.
As skidsteer wrote I think he is doing fine as well. I think the only concern is his pace. He can easily ride in the top 10, but the pace of the top 5 is very hard to maintain IMO. He is getting better, and at this point I can't really see any other rookies looking better than him this year.

When I made my first trip to LL years ago Kawasaki handed RC a brand new 80 at the awards ceremony. I think he was like 10 and he was far from a rookie. Years later john dowd showed what a late start to a mx carreer could do . Another notable late starter was a #125 on a white honda who didnt actually set the world on fire in his rookie year at MX (sx was a different story). I see a lot of potential in Mookie, he has shown steady improvement and looked very comfortable today in challanging conditions. So it's official I am jumping on the MS bandwagon I predict great things from this young man.

I've heard rumors that Malcolm Stewart has been saying his motorcycle is not that good and this why he's not doing good this year. But from watching the races, seeing how well he gets off the starting line (Mt. Morris start is up hill, he got a good start and his a big guy). If a big rider can get off the line in the 250 class on an up hill start, the bike has plenty of power. His riding a Suzuki, we all know that the Suzuki is a good bike and his suspension looks good, so it has to be his fitness.

Starting in the front and fading back and back could only be one thing, he's out of shape. He's using the old excuse of "my bike is not fast enough or good enough and if it was, I'd be doing better". That is such a bad way to show no respect for the team that is supporting you and paying your salary. I feel bad for Suzuki City for having to put up with that type of attitude.
Malcolm is riding great. His results are a huge surprise to me. This kid is going to be a player in the next 2 yrs. The guys that are beating him are flat out faster.

In a stacked field of 250f riders Stewart is running in the top 10. 3 races into his professional mx career and being a large framed kid going against seasoned riders I would say he is showing a lot of potential.

Maybe but he looked tired in both motos.

It's just very obvious after the 20 min mark who is still charging and who is cruising.

I agree, the big problem is he just isn't fast enough. Why do some people take that out of the equation as a factor?

Suspension "looks" good, gets good starts, but doesn't finish up front. Must be out of shape.

I doubt he is anywhere near the fittest rider on the track but still Mookie's fast lap in moto 1 yesterday (on lap 2) was almost 4 seconds slower than Baggett's. Simple math.

He probably is a little out shape but that was always going to be the case.

Very rarely can rider jump into Pro MX as a rookie and instantly have the conditioning to put together 2x perfect 30 min +2 lap moto's. There's no way to replicate a full race environment so instead - you have to work your way into it and gradually build yourself up. That includes fitness and speed. When Roczen first appeared on the scene in 09, he to had to build himself up over the following months.

Based on his times, he doesn't appear to be out of shape at all.

Riders were saying that the track was really tough to ride, especially the second time out. Tha they felt worked, even though they train hard.

Leave it alone dude. The guy rode well.
