Just wondering with the low turnout at all the GP's if any American riders will go down there and race? Should be interesting to see as we get closer. I would think that somebody will make this trip and see how they could do.

Unfortunately, unless a GP team pays a US rider to fill in, then the rider will make zero dollars so it just doesn't make sense to race it.

I guess I was hoping maybe Pro Circuit or one of the factory teams would want to jump in and mix it up

Maybe I've watched too much Locked Up Abroad or read to many cartel violence stories but I personally have no desire to ever go to Mexico again.

Maybe the riders will get to pass another bunch of assassinated dead bodies on the way to the track.

Fly directly to Guadalajara, beautiful city and only a 2.5 hour drive to Leon. So far down there in Mexico there ain't no real danger as in the territories close to the border (for obvious reasons). I tell this by personal experience, live WRC & beach babes at Puerto Vallarta is a great reason to go down there too. Wink

My best friend was shot while prerunning the Baja race down there 5 or 6 years ago. (He made it.) I have no desire to go anywhere near that country though. F Mexico!

No local guys will race the GP just on cost alone. To enter one of those races is like $1500.00 - $2000.00 I think? I'm sure if some big sponsor or shop wanted to flip the bill to race a race that doesn't really matter to them.......the rider would probably do it. Not many privateers can afford that entry price.

Most Americans don't race for free, even if it's on the doorstep in the heart of Moto-land (Glen Helen),even if racing is far better outdoor practice than another day at Pala

I'm ok with 25 man gates. Gate filler gets in the way of good racing.

Rider turnout steed2.0....this whole thread was about any riders possibly going down and racing. And not talking about gate fillers. I was just wondering if one of the factory or well backed teams might do it.

I have a Mexican friend that won't go to Mexico. You can best believe my blonde hair, blue eyed self won't be going (as a spectator).

You worried about being kidnapped, and finding yourself in some Arab Sultans Hareem? That, reportedly, is where blonde haired, blue eyed beauties tend to end up........................................ er, wait, somehow, I don't think you come under the heading of "beauty". Though, I've heard some Sultans, are a bit of a worry.
