I see a big argument on Twitter between DV12 and Matthes. About the costs that USA makes every year to go to the MXON. DV replies that the USA are crazy and doing it wrong. Because their crew is too big, and etc. But one of the following tweets cought my eye.
Why would Eli Tomac say, NO Thanks if his bike wouldn't be shipped? Does he really believe that his US Bike is faster then the bike of Desalle or Tixier? KRT Could build an perfect bike for him and he could put his suspension, exhausts, bars in it...
Even crazier is that America ships HSQ and KTM bikes to Europe. KTM can build them the exact same one because they work as one global team. All the same sponsorships,... Do they believe their bikes are faster? In the past we've saw riders get loan bikes and do great on it. Clément Desalle did it at Unadilla when he got RD5 bike. Till a few years ago the riders at Bercy were racing loan bikes. Till (I think Geico) started to import bikes.
So are they to spoiled?

Seems fair...
bro
Never heard complaints about team USA needing more money from YS when it was nice for all the bros and manfriends to attend a race that they won even before the gate dropped because they were so much better than all the other teams.
These kind of opinions have started now when USA aren't the only favorites to the title. Not as fun as it used to be?
What ever. The race will live with or without team USA.
The Shop
Sending bikes is very expensive and working with friendly teams could help the budget. Bye the way if Bud Kawasaki (no factory team) would build a bike for Austin Forkner then he would also battle for wins, because the kid is fast and the bike is top notch.
Shipping the bikes and some stuff seems minimal compared to all the money that gets spent on live bodies.
It would seem the most critical item for a rider is the overall bike. If you are having someone else overseas build you a temporary bike to use then clearly they have the tools already.
So just ship the bike, a few parts. Get your tires and tools from a sister team on the other side. This limits shipping weigh and costs. No?
Shipping bikes is maybe the least of the cost if you see that the Americans had three or even four bodyguards at the MXON in Lommel.
Pit Row
This hardly seems like an overbearing cost.
Their entourage is ridiculous, the heaviest hitters in Europe have nothing by comparison - absolutely unnecessary costs bringing all these folk over for a week. It's unnecessary full stop, IMO.
Next.
