The fact that John Penton is not on this list is mind blowing.

Who else do you think deserves a nod for having a major impact on the sport/industry?

Regarding the article, everyone I thought would be in it, was in it. No gripes from me.
Carmichael / Aldon Baker: They changed the way current Pros train.
James Stewart: Scrubbing and staying
The Shop
wow.
So yes, wow.
Pastrana could be on the list..
• Basically got KTM in dirt bike biz
• Brought Alpinestars to USA with Highpoint boots
• Developed, small, purpose built dirt bikes that got more young people riding
• Created Cycle News East
• Built first forward falling starting gate for Interams
• First Factory Big Rig with Cycleliners
• Even first to bring in Red Bull with 2 pallets stuffed in with KTMs from Austria in 1989...yep, it's true.
First off, total mind blower. Second off, (and I'm not calling BS) why is this NEVER spoken of and next to nothing comes up about when I google it?? Not expecting you to have those answers, just seems like the kind of thing that would pop up in a Hanny bio or interview somewhere, but I'm not seeing anything
Pit Row
Thanks for keep me honest!
(Senior moment)
There had never been anything like it before.
It seems that the idea of being instructed may have caught on since then.
He asked Gary Bailey to do it who said (paraphrasing) "I don't know how to teach anyone how to ride". John got him to do it and the rest is history.
We tell people John Penton is like the "Forest Gump of Dirt Bikes".
Potentially JS7 too because of his TV show, first black guy, etc.
Jody and Davey could have had an honorable mention too.
John Penton missing, yikes, maybe add these 2 along with John.

Steve McQueen, and the guy that actually pulled this off, Bud Elkins, on a Triumph 650.
I know I was never the same after seeing it.
just another version of what is wrong with the "sport"...........way too many personal agendas involved to ever actually help the sport get to where it should...........been this way for 40 years or so and highly doubtful it's gonna change...get used to it
