The best bet IMO is to buy a nice piece of land in the sandy areas of TX. Throw some cows on it to get out of Property Taxes, and build the track from scratch.

Look for elevation changes and water of course.

Please build another track around Austin! We really need more riding areas.

I see lots of growth and good sand on 71 heading East , and NorthEast towards Hutto. Far enough to be outside the wrath of Austin but close enough for people to commute.

It needs to be a lot better than CC by the way. That's just not worth the 1 hour drive.

2013 KTM 250SX, full Ohlins front and back, 314cc built stroker engine, Lectron Carb.

buying a track right now would be like buying a starbucks franchise.

You better go hang out at one some before you sink a bunch of money into one.

Cygnus brings up some good points too.

It is a changing sport and it isn't all for the better.

I was at 330 last weekend for an OMA National. I had no idea it had that much space. Pretty nice place.

God Bless Motocross.

Last I heard they wanted around $2.5 million which they know they won't get, they were trying to motivate the kids to get back into helping run the place. I think it worked cause Dan has been really working on the place lately and it was pretty sweet last time I was there in July.

Hey Cyg, I like the picture of Mt Bachelor you have at the top of your track website, that photo is of the Northwest side of the mountain where if you start at the summit you get roughly a 3,300 ft vertical drop. Do you have a connection with Bend or Bachelor?
BTW your track looks sweet, good luck getting through these economic times, I unfortunately think were in for quite a ride.

I doubt you could get a banker to sign onto a moto track loan, probably only if there was a house and it comped out ,and you had a substantial downpayment.

That is why I was looking for one with a house on the property. But that leads to my next problem. It is hard to find someplace rural enough to have a track, but urban enough to have a good school system. Any other ideas???

99% of rural school systems are 200% better than urban school systems.

I guess I paraphrased that wrong, I didn't really mean "urban" school systems. I know inner city schools are generally pitiful, I suppose I should have said "suburban" schools.

there was a nice place up near Denton somebody posted a while back. I'd bet it's still on the market. Looked a nice track too.

I know....it's missing all the sand.

But they don't get neighbor's complaining and last time they had their shit together the parking lot was full.

As far as if the deal is done, I don't know but it woulda been recent.

Lackey was going to run a race there a couple of months ago, he pulled the plug, place was beat when he got there. I heard it was sold, but not in about a couple of weeks now, so maybe it fell through ?? I'll have to ask my guy up in the area what's up ??

Over the Hill Gang was out there recently doing a bunch of work for a recent event....but SHR details are a little spotty of late.

I think the ask is still quite high even with real estate down in the local area.
