MIcky Dymond is training to be in the 2014 Race Across America, the 3,000 mile bicycle race that starts in Oceanside, California and ends in Annapolis, Maryland. To be an official finisher a rider needs to complete the course in 12 days or less (the record is under 8 days!).
Micky is racing today in Sacramento in one of the qualifying events. It started this morning at 5am and he's currently in 2nd. See his progress at this link: http://nocal.raamchallenge.com/rs/index.php?N_webcat_id=428

Go Micky, go!
200 miles on a road bike ain't no joke.
And celebrated with some of the sponsor's best. Those Sierra Nevada Torpedos are good!
On another subject my son is getting ready to ride his "handcycle" from San Fransico to San Diego, 620 miles in 6 days, using nothing but arm power....yeah he's a badass...hahaha
"This is my Crew, Ray (my Dad) and Tage (super camera man), Black Chevy chase truck complete. we head out, 225 miles through Nor Cal... make that 230 after a couple of detours but, who cares, We missed having Brenda Lyons. Next race is the 400 in Daytona in Nov."
To be an official finisher in next year's Race Across America Micky will need to ride this kind of mileage every day for nearly two weeks. The race is 3000 miles long and the cut-off is 12 days, which means a minimum of 250 miles per day. Ouch!
Great job, Micky!
