I think the kidney belt will help, no real pain today but I can feel some pressure in the area while sitting. Just the extra pressure on the area from tightening my belt really helps things feel in place.
A year ago at 42, my back problems started. I've done it all too- chiropractor (the no drug route) and doctor (drugs- muscle relaxers and prescription for the pain).
Both had there moments of success as well as ineffectiveness.
The common theme that came from both is what has been echoed here over and over "strengthen your core".
Unfortunately, just like those of us that pack a few extra pounds, have full time jobs, kids, and chores- we often don't find the time to maintain a regular exercise or strengthening routine. In other words, I have a lame excuse for why mine still hurts all the time!!
I have heard good things about Yoga and personally want to give it a chance. I'm not young, but I also don't want to feel like this for the rest of my life either.

*give Acupuncture a try, research them and find a dr. in your area, take the time to watch the movie "9,000 needles" if your not a believer in acupuncture. there are other documents on the subject but this is just one I watched recently.
I do yoga and pilates regular along with cycling, gym work outs, and of course moto
Chiro is actually very effective for me when it flares up. Agree with everything said in here about core strength, yoga etc to keep it from happening again. Before you get out of bed in the morning, lie on your back, bring your knees up and roll them to each side, resting there for a good 10-15 secs for a good stretch. Just that works wonders for me.
but best thing you could do that I recommend is to visit chiropractor which can five you proper diagnosis.
I don't recommend ignoring pain or doing self-healing of some type!
Likely your "problem" isn't your back but more likely you ROM/mobility and your hip flexors.
Start here.
Step 2.) Stop riding moto
Thanks OP and contributors!
I find this website really helpfull to get me through

Chiropractic is about realigning the spine to allow the nerves to flow normally. Very simple concept and it makes sense if you understand how the body works.
The pain you are describing is nerve pain most likely in the L3 area. Your right hip could be misaligned also causing your body to compensate. Unfortunately you like most people wait until its really bad to come see us.
Find a good chiropractor, take up yoga or stretching. Google can be your friend. Good luck.

On holidays in Asia i did 2 months of Ashtanga yoga for 2 hrs per day. The benefits for offroad riders is huge, it balanced out my muscles from opposing each other, and increased my stretch ability in areas i had never known how to stretch in my life .
Before the yoga I had trouble with my core strength, not that is was weak, it was actually the opposite my core was strong but out of balance. I found it difficult to do abb work as my muscle would contract and compress my lower back. That has all changed.
Chiropractors will not resolve the problem IMO.
If you try yoga make sure it is a flow style like Ashtanga, I have tried other style since being back in Australia and to me its a load of bollocks the spiritual long meditation styles most women in Australia choose, us guys need a dynamic workout style we dont need a spiritual enlightening
I hit the ground HARD today at the Glen. My daily stretching came into play in my ability to get up, shake it off, acknowledge the soreness...& get back on the bike. Sore, bruised; but, thanks to daily stretching...I got to keep going and "work it out".
I'm stoked to see a thread like this.
What it sounds like is sciatica. The sciatic nerve runs along the bottom of your spine down your bum and to your foot.
Pain usually starts in the lower back, down your bum through the hamstring and into the calf and foot.
It started like this for me. Then the disc herniated ( happened twice) then I lost control of my foot ( foot drop) saw surgeon after 3 mths waiting he operated 3 days later. 2 months later I'm back in the gym, running, swimming and riding. Slowly regaining control of my foot again. So all going well.
google "sciatica" and I think you'll be fine.
i started out resting and avoiding doing things but no progress was made, i found just thinking a bit more about tasks and impact rather than just lifting bending twisting etc. helped and maintaining a steady work out to impove the core
I also used one of the training games on the xbox360 with the kinect which has some good core excerises and even things like yoga etc on it
+getting old sucks!
Hip Flexor stretches.
Funny but it was this stretch that cured all my back problems over everything else. I tried inversion and every other stretching the book but a friend that is a crazy mma/crossfit psychopath introduces me to these.

Or if you have someone that can help this is the BOMB!

I am not saying Racerx930 should not consult a professional.
But at the end of the day, if we are going to keep beating our selves up on dirtbikes you are going to be need to build and sustain a balanced core strength with free movement. I believe the right style of yoga is the simplest and cheapest way of achieving this and can be done anywhere at anytime.
