Can't compete with Rupert's National MX colage of photos, but here are a few old school photos from LL's 1982.

Crazy some of the old school stuff that we keep around over the years!

Like... 31 years ago.

Need to scan all my photos that my cousin and I took from that week at the Ranch.

DC used some of these for the Racer X - LL's 25 year anniversary article.

The original LL's sign off the Highway in 82.

The original Billboard.

First ever start at LL's, Moto 1, Open A at 7:30 Thursday morning (taken by my cousin the late Dale Maxwell).

Friday, Moto 2 Open A on the gate.

Friday, Moto 2 Open A first turn.

National rider Chris Blose started with this man... Mr. Blose (Grandpa).

My RM 465 Dirt Scooter!

There is a Texas Tornado among theses kids...!

80cc action and spectator fencing..! LOL.

So much different now. Who would have thought that 31 years ago this race would be what it is today? Oh yea, a man I have had the pleasure of meeting before, Dave Combs SR, that's who!

In 1983, I told the wife "We gotta go. they will NEVER have it there again, especially after two years in a row!"
Friends joined us and we rode the 12 hours down there on road bikes.

Wow, what a blast from the past... And believe it or not, that's me on the 1982 shirt. Dirt Shirts did the T's and Team Green was the sponsor, and somehow they stumbled on to that photo from the Florida Winter-AMs earlier that year. My dad didn't realize it until I showed him the actual shirt!

Pure, strange coincidence. And I was never on a T-shirt again...

That's cool DC, never knew that. Now if I can get you to autograph it....! LOL.

Did Timmy ever get on one? I know he has worn a few, but did he ever get on one (outside of standing on one)? Tongue

Really? Huh.....that is pretty damn sweet DC!

ArkMx ( Jim ) some really cool old shots there man! Makes me realize I should dig out all my old Woodland MX photos from 82' , 83' and 84'. I have some cool shots of ol' Larry Ward on his DMC prepped KX80's and 105cc bikes. Along with guys like the Larson boys ( Phil and Mike ) , Eric Eaton , Jimmy Anderson , Ron and Chuck Sun.....so many I can't remember them all.

The glory years for me and the seasons in which I fell in love with the sport. Watching all my local heroes around here was an awesome time in my life.

The old T-Shirts are cool.

Wonder if we could get all the years together for a LL's T-shirt montage!

Who else has their old shirts from back when...?

My cousin did that in 82 to hang out with me during the week. I drove in from AZ and he rode his street bike down from N. Illinois.

That is cool jeffro..! I wish I had taken more photos of the races I went to...

What I think is cool, is you never know what young racer will turn out to be the next pro etc.!

From the 80's to early 90's some of the AZ Moto Rats that I saw grow up and move on were but not limited to... Button, Kalos, Gaddis, Ping, Michael Blose on a PW50.

Now if we could download our old racing memories in a digital format.....

Great memories for sure. Thanks for posting.

Hey Davey, didn't you used to have "no fat chicks" engraved into your cylinder?? I think I remember seeing that at the LL Regional qualifier at High Point in "83 if my memory is correct. See you at Loretta's!!! RIDE ON

That 86 program is kind of strange. The photo as you can see, is laid out on there sideways.

I do remember having that carved into a cylinder. I was getting help from Eric Gorr, an amazing engine-builder, and Kevin Foley and "Dealin'" Dave Lovell, and we liked the same kind of music (The Clash, Oingo Bongo, etc.) and humor...

I am sure Timmy got on a GNCC shirt once after he won the Blackwater 100, but not a Loretta Lynn's shirt. It was a total accident that I was on the first shirt, which is probably why I never did very well there -- it was the T-shirt curse!

was there in 82', probably one of the best trips of my lifetime.

i still remember Junior Jackson's tricked out yz60's....water cooled, yz80 suspension....his dad knew his way around a yz60.

and an epic battle between Keith Bowen and Ronnie Lechien. Also watched Keith crash in first corner...take 45 seconds to clean his goggles, clean the cobwebs out....and then take off and pass everyone. amazing ride.

Here are my bibs from Loretta's. I made it two times that I did not go due to injury. I need to work hard and try to go back in the 50+ so I'll have bibs from four decades.

Nice collection.

Hear ya on the +50 class.... Now if DC and Co. would give the +45 & +50 riders a full gate...

Had or have one of those 85 t-shirts somewhere. Did not mind mud racing until that year! One of those dang Hurricanes came in and made a Jet Ski Lake of the Ranch!

Yes, we need a full gate. They helped the 50+ this year and now allow 30 instead of 20, so maybe next year.

Hurricane Danny! only ran 2 outa the 3 motos due to Mr. Coombs cancelling the rest of the week. Place was a mess. I think michigan guys won half of the races that year. We were one of the few Districts that would run in the mud rain/sleet/snow because of our spring fling silverdome series. Made us all good mud riders.

Well Jim, you got me going on this one. I dug up some old pictures from 1985. They are in black & white........yeah, that old. Back then, there were no pit bikes, mopeds, golf carts or mules running over you. Everyone either walked or rode a bicycle. There was a chili cookoff every year on wednesday night. It was pretty intense and fun for everyone. Bribery was the name of the game when the judges came to get a taste. Beer was the number one offering when you wanted to bribe a chili judge. Then along came some boys from Louisiana. They had more than beer. They won handily. I see John Ayers in the first picture. My wife is in the fourth one. Her team got second, I guess not enough skin. One judge wouldn't even taste the chili that had the fake cocaine lined out.

My pictures were on my old website. Loaded them in another post.

The Chili Cook-off! Forgot about that event.! Looks like Pam is having fun! Did Brook race that year?

Was that you showing us your "DBM Full Moon"? Tongue

Speaking of only walking or bicycling around... the first year I did not even know Area 3 even existed! Just stayed up around our pit area. LOL...

Now speaking of T-shirts (have seen the collection) DBM could start a "Vintage Modern" day t-shirt sale! It's almost as big as some peoples bedrooms and they are all folded!!

I don't think I ever really finished 3 straight motos at LL. I seemed to explode more bikes there than anywhere else.

Still have my slightly damaged 1982 program as well as a bumper stick that I never used. Finished 7th that year in the 65cc stock class.
