A couple of questions for the old Red Bud fans -

(1) The takeoff for LaRoccos Leap looks just a tad lower than it used to, and the last jump looks higher, making it almost a monster step up;
(2) The 250Fs aren't jumping it much but I think they were in practice - was the turn before the Leap too deep?

Didn't look a whole lot different to me, but was pretty hard to tell from TV. Maybe someone that was at the race can tell us for sure.

Did anyone notice they never call it Larocco's Leap during the broadcast?

The jump has changed a little over the years. The landing is a little taller.

Maybe not this year, but I have always heard broadcasters referring to the jump as Laroccos Leap.

Your right it was either the uphill tripple or the parking lot jump. The only time larocco was mensioned was when fro said he got beat by hi in a moto.

yep now they stripping all the history out of the sport to make it more PC. I love progress

I think it has been a little steeper and a little shorter the last few times i was there. The landing is bigger for sure. I think its a 90 degree corner at the bottom of the hill now too unlike the old 180 they had a few years back. when i first started racing d-14 stuff there like 7 years ago it seemed like you were motoring up that hill alot longer than you do now. Maybe its just the 450 but I never used to have a problem over jumping the double and face planting into the landing of the triple. maybe i should bump up my aflac coverage, grow some balls, and hold on the throttle a little longer the next time I go.

Perhaps a little animosity towards Mike? I've never heard it called anything but Larocco's Leap. Parking lot jump? Seriously? WTF???

Actually, I believe the first to jump it was David Bailey.

Oh. Could've been LaRocco. I've heard the reason they named it after Mike was because it was his home track, not because he jumped it first on a 125 (if he did).

I always heard it was because he was the first on a 125 to clear it.
