Back in '11, when Supercross went back to Dodger Stadium, he opened up the LAPD Police Academy for tours to some of the riders and media. He's always been a big moto fan.

What a sweet police chief! Thats really cool that he took the time to do that for the riders/teams.

Yep....that was a fun day for sure!! Shooting full auto legally in the great state of California!!

Edited to add: Getting to know Chief Beck and some of his guys over the years has been awesome. It's cool to see how much these guys love the sport.

I'm pretty sure this visit to the LAPD academy had something to do with Travis Bakers career change!

Actually I will step in and take at least partial credit for Travis Baker's career change. Travis met Rob Cosner, Charlie's right hand man and a few other motorcycle cops that Charlie sent to my Big Air Kid's Fair at Loma Linda Children's Hospital, I cannot remember what year, either 2010 or 2011. The entire TLD team was there and Rob spent a lot of time with him that day. I told Charlie he owes me a finder's fee on that one!

Incidentally, I talked to Charlie (texted) at 6 pm on Sunday, wishing him well and he said, "Thx Steve. I'll be fine. Sounds worse than it is (I think)"

So I guess that's a good sign, although everyone I've known who broke a pelvis or hip said it hurt like a motherfucker!

Shit, I rode with him last Wednesday, he helped my son change a flat tire that day as well! Hope it's not too serious.
