Not his first time with the team, right? He did MCR back when they rode Yamahas I thought. Did pretty decent back then too. I wish him luck but dang....some of these young kids in 250 are crazy fast and crazy inexperienced. Could be dangerous Chiz! Be careful out there!

How does a fulltime 450 rider with a permanent national #11 get to ride the regional west coast class?

Because the rules are just guidelines. (I am a Chiz fan for the record)

Exactly.

I get the "make money racing any way you can" attitude, but he earned permanent number 11 for crying out loud, does he really need to be able to ride a Regional series?

I don't see this as the same case as Phil, the permanent number is a deal breaker for me.

I'm a Chiz fan too but I see him as an example of why permanent numbers are silly. The point was to be able to market yourself right? Sell merchandise and all that....so where are all the Chisholm, Weimer, Barcia, Osborne and Tickle jackets, toys, onesies, hats, etc? Where's all this merchandise? Reed went all out with his TwoTwo Motorsports but that was hardly a financial success! Harvick is probably making money off of his #4 with shirts, jackets, hats, decals, and all that stuff but let's be real, how much money is Tickle making off his number and what difference would it REALLY make if he had to run his earned number? How many people are rocking a Jake Weimer #12 jacket right now??? Even Nick Wey called his company Mafia Moto, not "27 Moto" or "Two Seven Moto". He knows what's up!
Sorry for the rant. Great job Motoconcepts. Great job Chiz. Best of luck everyone!

Wow, didn't see this one coming. Genova and Tony are really going balls deep this season; and that's saying a lot

Wow you people are ridiculous. Does it bother you so much that he has 11 and will ride the 250 class? Let's be real here, he's not gonna win, probably won't get a top 5. So it's not like he's gonna be some 450 rider that just drops down and takes the limelight away from these kids. Sorry but if you're gonna take away a guys number because their results aren't as good as they were you're gonna have to take some other numbers... the number 7 comes to mind.

Without looking at the rulebook I seem to remember the rule being no 250 SX eligibility if you finished in the top 20 in 450 SX in the previous 3 years. It came up a season or two ago when someone (maybe him?) had some offers from bigger 250 teams but the rules made them ineligible.

Well, he's not full-time, he never pointed out of 250s, and had moved up voluntarily.

Never mind all of the "should be able to do this" stuff, but MCR is starting to impress me with the people they are building around. I truest believe that Tony and Genova are wanting a team that people respect and is a lot more than, "yeah, we have tons of money." They want a relationship with Honda now, not trying to rebel against them.

i dont think the permanent number is really a deciding factor in this. Obviously guys dropping back down to the small bore class hasnt been popular in the last decade but think...all the way back to 2003ish time...veterans of the class dropped down all the time.

That year Roncada started on 250's, then dropped to 125s for the nationals, then switched back halfway

Robbie reynard started on a 250 then finished the nationals on a 125

Sean hamblin started the SX series in the 125 west class but finished year on 250's

idk maybe its just me but i thought Amateurs was the stepping stone. If the AMA was really interested in developing riders for SX then they would start an amatuer SX series.

2011 Anaheim 3, Chiz qualified 6th and got 3rd in the heat race on the Motoconcepts Yamaha and was feeling good then the next week at Houston he qualified 5th then went down when his chain broke and got his throat run over resulting in Boglevoice

Not to mention, it's kind of a stretch to say he was a full time 450 guy, I mean he wasn't really working for anyone but himself.
