I might be able to help you a little on this as I had a '10 crf250 w/ a 270 BB, and an '11 350 at the same time, hands down the 350 power wise will stomp the 270, and mine was an '11 which was down a few from the '12 your looking at. The 350 turns pretty damned good, but so did the crf, but I give a slight nod to the ktm, handling wise I think the crf was a little more stable coming down rough choppy straights, the ktm will head shake sometimes, but not out of control bad. I kept the 350 and sold the 250, also bought a '12 crf 450 which is a great bike, but I still like riding the 350 as well.

I own a CRF with the 270 kit and stage 2 cam.

The 350 will eat my 270. That said, I rode a bone stock '13 350sxf and really liked it. Suspension wasn't setup for me, but it was super smooth motor wise , and felt very predictable.

I'd love to have a 350, but will stick with my 270 for now. Next or 2nd bike , it'll be between a 350sxf or a 250 2 stroke of some sort.

I had a bigbore 12 yz250f and now have a stock 11 ktm 350. I love the 350 power wise. Suspension is good too. Not only that big bore 250fs go boom. Thats why mine did atleast.

I had a 2010 CRF250 and a 2011 KTM350 SX. I currently have a 2013 RMZ270. Love it. My Honda had some mods, and i liked it way better than the KTM. Just my opinion. The 350 still felt heavy, imho had less low end than my 250, and was just very flat and high revving. It was like a heavy 125 in my opinion. I'm sure it could be set up better (and i have read the 12-13's have better engines than the 11). For me, the 250/270 is just a lot more "fun".

Just buy a 250 2stroke, keep the change, enjoy riding more and have a bike that is lighter and faster than both of those.

So get a bike that is harder to ride, will give you arm pump, have to mix oil and gas before you ride, will bog and throw you over the bars resulting in broken bones, and has an outdated chassis?

Harder to ride ( = more fun), Arm pump (ride more), mix oil and gas (nothing on the planet smells better), bogging (that's a four stroke problem), outdated chassis (not on a KTM).
