I have a 2001 cr250 2 stroke sitting in my garage right now. Needs to be refreshed. Scouring different places, there isnt much to offer for the 01. I love the engine, but im torn on wether to sink the dollars in it to get it how i really want it, or sell it and find a decent yz250 to sink it in to. And please, dont recommend a ktm, ive ridden many, have not a care in the world to own one. If you gave me one, i would sell it for a yz. So dont bother going there

Well that's easy. Get a Husky then.
Ha! If i hadnt already bought some 16 yz250f's i just might have done that. The cr i bought for my son. Its set up as a woods bike right now. Gnarly pipe, apex silencer, flywheel weight, soft suspension, narrow bars.... Hes been on it twice and on one of the yz's the rest of the time. So i have inherited the cr for myself it seems.

It's been a while since I had a 01 bike. And I did have a 01 YZ125And a CR 125 . The YZ was ️nite and day better inho . I also had a 02 CR 250 and I did like that bike . I think a newer YZ would be the direction I would go though .

I would not even park that thing in the garage next to some 16 yz 250f. They could get contaminated . Sell it and get a YZ. You will be better off

What do you really need to do the 01, to get it the way you want it? It's a Honda, so it's certainly a tough engine. Cosmetically trashed? I'm still riding my 93 on the original crank, and transmission. Things as reliable as a claw hammer.

Its going to need all new bushings and bearings, suspension is worn, rebuilt the shock when i bought it which was fine for my son, he isnt serious, just toys around. But for me, it needs to be replaced. Forks need rebuilding, radiators have seen better days. Like i said, for him to fart around on in the woods amd play ride, its fine. But he doesnt want to ride it anymore. So either dump it or dump the money in it. Im torn because the engine is so tight and strong. Its crisp and clean and stout. The rest needs help lol

Too be honest, if that's all it needs, and maybe some plastic to pretty it up, run 'er. Spend the money, and freshen it right up. That's just me, though. Look at Triple 5's bike. Cool

Once you get that yamaha in your stable, you won't look back. Plus you can find parts everywhere for them.
