"What we’re trying to do is build a brand; no other team is doing that. "-Watson

http://www.racerxonline.com/article/5-minutes-with-kenny-watson.aspx

It seems what they are going for is to sell an image and a brand that can go mainstream like the Fox head logo or even the Metal Mulisha logo. Pretty smart marketing if thats the flavor you like. I would think H&H would be able to bring in more revenue from sponsors and selling brand merchandise then say a team like Canadae or motoconcepts. Being loud and in 12th place in SX probably brings in more dollars then being subtle and getting top 3 at a National.

Having a tv show, celebrity wife, and celebrity friends helps "sell their image". If it werent for Pink H&H would just be another team that doesnt get enough attention.

I disagree
#1, Pink has nothing to do with it and is rarely at the races. No one is showing up at the HH rig expecting an autograph with Pink...Hell, Carey isn't even always there.
#2, the TV show is off the air and has been for over a year or so.

HH has become a successful brand because of smart marketing.

Do you think of H&H as being any different from Moto XXX?

The one thing I remember most about the 09' SX season is the hotter than hell blonde that was dancing at the H&H set-up in the pits at the San Diego SX. She was smokin'!!! Smart marketing by H&H all around if you ask me.

Do you drink Rockstar, ride a Honda or have tatoos? Did you buy anything at their pit set-up or just enjoy the scenery?

Do you think of H&H as being any different from Moto XXX?
Yes and no

MotoXXX's image, at least the image they were trying to sell (in my opinion) was more of a rebellious "Bro Image"

H&H has a cleaner look, a more mainstream look....more refined when compared to MotoXXX

There are similarities, hell, Kenny Watson being manager is one, but the overall image may seem to parallel, but they are marketing to similar audiences with different styles

From the outside looking in, H&H is not much different to me then motoXXX or Tyler Evans and Shane Bess team. I can kind of see what your saying, but that sounds to me like youre calling them, the rebellious corporate people. I just feel like their success should be greatly attached to the Hart name, which has been aided by Pink.

I've known KW for sometime now.
Were good!
The H&H thing I like it & respect it.
They're their own deal, regardless of support.
I don't care about
Pink, though I like her & her music,
likewise everything else, yet it's the
everything else that's exciting to me.
I like their fresh-ness & aggressive style.
& yes, they're different than the norm, but
that's what's attractive.
Tony B's going to be a huge asset to them.
Hopefully the riders will make some noise.
I see no reason why they can't.

I agree. Still sounds like the anti-establishment tool. Dont understand how that would serve the team well........

I haven't read the interview yet, but I will say that he has always come off as a decent dude (in other interviews). That seems hard to come by in the MX community.

If I told you guys that Kenny was a two-stroke, you'd lavish praise on him and love him unconditionally. Wink

They had his story in RX years ago. Pretty cool that he has been able to overcome his addictions

Seems like Pro Circuit has a pretty good brand worked up. Focused, yes, but a solid brand nonetheless.

I own a Honda, I don't drink energy drinks, nor do I have tatoos. And no I didn't buy anything at their pit set-up. But I would've paid for some time with that dancer!

I was riding mx practice at Raceway Park, and H&H were over at the Supermoto track racing. My fiance and I walked over to them, to say hello, and wish them luck that day, and I swear they (Kenny W, and Carey H) didn't even acknowledge us saying hello.

That shit hurt, man! Cut me deep! Kenny and Carey owe us an apology... sniff cry.

I think the marketing is great.
The factory teams seem to be quite generic / boring in comparison.
Your average "bro" can wear H&H casual wear, it will be more socially acceptable than wearing say a team Suzuki shirt, have 1000x more taste than moto-tees merchandise... All while helping fund the team.
I wish more teams would take this attitude...
IMO Honda should support these guys more, there is NO other team that could give them anywhere near the same amount of mainstream exposure.

You can't fault Kenny for his salesmanship and pure chutzpah, but . . . ahh . . . I'm pretty sure Mitch would laugh his ass off if someone offered to trade all the upside in the H&H brand for the PC brand.

PC is a podium brand - his comment was directed at teams promoting products with mediocre results.
