So I have a 2016 YZ125 that I love and jive with really well. Dealer offered me a good deal on a 2016 SX 150 which looks amazing when compared to my YZ they are way sharper than the long toothed yami. I've always been a Yamaha guy and a bit apprehensive about jumping to a KTM. I've heard mixed reviews on the new WP suspension which makes me hesitate. Should I just keep my YZ for now or make the jump to the orange brigade?

This thread will get you nowhere. Test ride the KTM and see if you like it.
I love my 150, but not everyone does/will.

Honestly,if I could have any new bike it would be the KTM 150 so I'm baised but I'm also on a yz 125 as well(2003 model but not like its that different) so I'd go with the KTM if it was an option.

I agree. I'd test ride one if you could. I switched from a yz250 to a ktm 250sx and haven't regretted the decision. Once I got the suspension dialed in it was perfect. And with all the changes they made to the 16 model 150 I can't imagine anyone hating it.

Test ride for sure. If it were me I would send the motor to a reputable tuner for a 144 treatment. I went from an RM 250 to a 250sx and wished I had just freshener up the RM and upgraded the brakes

The yz is the shit... But, if you have never owned a ktm cut the check to gain first hand experience how they are. You might like it, you might not, but for sure you will learn a lot.

What is your goal, do you race? Is the 150 legal in the class you race?
If not, how much do you weigh? Can you wring the piss out of a 125?

5'11, 155, 30 year old C rider, occasional race 30+ C here and there. Just love riding and getting better at it. Like I said I jive really well with my 125, more so than I did with my 250F.

Yz 125 isn't shit. It has by far the best suspension between the 2. Suspension is by far the most important aspect of any bike. Yes it gives up ponies to the 150. But comparing a 125 to a 150 is like comparing a 250f to a big bore 270.

That's not to say the new 150 sx isn't a great bike. Although be prepared to dish out some dough if you want to bring the 150 sx suspension up to par with the yz 125. And by par I mean almost as good as stock yz suspension.... lol

I say keep the YZ. Hard to beat a bike you jive with. I love Bronwyn's YZed, I want one for myself.

No problem. Just trying to stop another vital fight before it happens.

Hydraulic clutch on a YZ125? The thing pulls so easy already. Doesn't really get excessive play either because the bike has good enough power that you don't have to abuse the clutch.

I'd say it's a tough decision in your case. If your YZ was older I'd say go for the KTM but since your YZ is also new, I don't know...How often do you buy a new bike? Maybe hold on to your YZ and buy a KTM when the 2017 or 2018 models roll around?

I still have my 05 YZ125 which I love to ride every once in awhile. It's so fun and feels just right that even after getting a new bike I kept it around. My son has a 15 150SX and let me tell you, that bike is great! Its fast, handles well, feels light and is easy to flick around and so much more powerful. My plan is to take that bike when he moves up to a 250 and make it my fun bike. That being said I'm still not selling my YZ125. I'll keep both.

Why not a YZ150? Call James Saylor at JMS performance and he will bore and stroke your 125 to a 150 complete with a vertex ignition to work with the new motor. The increase in performance is staggering and you don't have to worry about KTM forks. My YZ150 is an awesome machine.

PS I have no affiliation with JMS but if I ride Yamaha he will be the only guy that will touch my bike

That might be an expensive test ride/trial period if you end up selling the KTM unless you are one of those guys that have great luck selling used bikes.

Good luck.

75% of the bikes in schoolboy1 at lorettas are yamahas STILL, even after ktm 150s being out for a few years. seems like a lateral move to me unless you just love how they look and want a newer bike. a local pro rider I know has one and likes it but it took awhile to get the forks halfway decent. parts are more exspensive too.

Im not gonna pick it up and wait for the 17's. I called Factory Connection last night about the 4CS suspension and spoke with Jay, he highly advised I avoid purchasing the 16 and wait a year as the 4CS forks will never feel as good as my Yamaha's even after a revalve. So I decided to wait it out till 17 as he said they've been working with the AER48 forks and they are really great forks and KTM will be using those in 17 supposedly.
