I heard from Shane today, and he is finally back to work after a lengthy recovery from injuries he sustained while riding this Spring. Not only is he back, but he also received a promotion which he had been expecting, until he got hurt. I know that many Vital members followed his injury, surgeries, PT, and recovery, and would be happy to know of his progress. Congratulations, Shane.

So happy for Shane, he's a very determined and driven person. This injury was major, and he's still working on his recovery. But with his positive attitude it's only a matter of time. I'm sure he'll return to work in a full capacity soon enough. My hope for him is that he can find his passion for riding again too.

That is great news! I remember the thread this spring and checked his progress often but never posted. As a firefighter myself way back when, I know it must have been hard for him to go through his lengthy rehab knowing he wasn't able to be a part of his work family. Even better news on the promotion. Congrats to Shane.

Thanks for the kind wishes everyone. It's been a long road. There's still more gains to be made, but by definition I'm "functional." I have a little over 120 degrees for range of motion. Most people without injury are in the 130-140 range. I'll probably settle in the 125-130 (maybe) range. I did have to have a cortisone injection in my ankle since the arthritis from a previous injury really took hold after months of non use. I may have to go through that a couple of times, which isn't bad. Once I get active again, the arthritis can be held off like it was before. I'll have to adapt how I do some things, but that's part of the process I suppose. I still have to put muscle tone back on, but they'll be a long process again. I'll be continuing PT for quite a while. The curve for gains now is much slower than it was previously.

I can't thank everyone enough for the support and help through it all! The moral support, the support for my family and the medical team that rebuilt me and got me through rehab. My physical therapist put so much time and effort into me five days a week for one to two hours each visit. The support was phenomenal!

I will ride again, but not until next year. My wife, chief and doc don't want me to push my way onto the bike quite yet. So that's a small trade off. My bike still taunts me every time I go through the garage. But it'll be there when I'm ready to ride.

Next spring I'll definitely take rocketsocks and Pete up on those offers to ride at the pit and track days. I've done one of Pete's track days with digger and it was some of the most fun I've had in years!

Thanks again for the kind wishes, and the compliments on the quality of my posts!

Glad you are getting healed up and back into a regular routine. Injuries take some time but the human body is amazing at healing.

Haha. Thanks! I actually drive a 2014 Raptor. Not sure I can sneak a 2017 past the wife quite yet. Especially since there's absolutely nothing wrong with my truck.

It is tempting though! She did say I could get another two-stroke if I wanted. But the thought of a stand up jet ski has crossed my mind. That would count.

I thought about the Roush package. But couldn't justify it. It would be sweet to drive though!
