Will it be legal to race the nationals or will the AMA bend the rules for it the way the FIM and Luongo are bending the rules for the USGP?

Technically, KTM needs a couple hundred bikes in the US by race time. I forgot the exact number.

I think it is 400, not positive though.

If i remember correctly, its not by race time, but a certain date later in the year? I could be wrong.

"Is anyone else a little confused by the homologation rule? I don’t know of a Suzuki dealer anywhere that has a 2010 250F, but Austin Stroupe is racing one. And Mike Alessi is planning on riding a KTM 350, but I don’t think dealers have even been told when they are getting them. I thought the rule was that there had to be 300 of them in the country before they could be raced. Then I heard that the rule was 100 in the country by the end of the series. Are the rules changing? And if so, why? There are teams still running 2009 models (Rockstar/Canidae Suzuki, Hart & Huntington) and they are doing just fine. It just seems strange to me that I can’t get a straight answer about it, that’s all. "

June has been the consistent message of availability to the public. My local dealer is waiting until the June Dealer show to give any solid info.

from what i understand the bikes just have to be here not neccessarily for sale. also when the ktm 250sxf came out, ktm just made sure to have the right number of owners manuals although that ight have just been someone taking a crack at how its enforced when i read that.

I think the large bore class should toss that rule.

Well as far as the rules go, there may as well be none. Seems they change them faster than they make them these days. The big four are are floundering. Maybe Honda will show up at the last minute and tell DC KTM isn't allowed to run the 350 or they will take their toys and go home. Like they did with the 250cc bikes in the 250 class....and the 250cc bikes in the WMA. Bad thing about the last minute decision with the WMA is DC told us the rule was written and good to go. People even had bikes ready and others were ready to jump on board and support it. Bunch of candy assed mfgs.

Go KTM!!

Spill the beans on what? How tired the "Honda runs the AMA" argument is? Smile

No consistency on the homologation rules. I remember in GNC dirt track when Harley brought out the Alloy engined XR750, they needed 200 units to meet the rules in '72. The AMA went to the factory ,where they had 200 bikes lined up. A few of them had tags on the handlebars. These were the ones that were actually complete and would fire, run. The other 70% of the bikes were sitting there with no engine internals.

Then in '75, the AMA homologated the Yamaha OW72 750 with only one complete bike, and 24 engines. If you wanted one, you had to use the claiming rule, and then you only got the engine ,electrics and carbs.

Does anyone know the actual homologation rules for 2010?

I've heard lot's of rumors but nothing in writing, where it might be helpful... can anyone point me in the right direction?

As for the WMA, was that overturned? Now the 250 two-stroke is not allowed? Must have missed that one! Huh

Are they doing it in the U.S. for Suzuki? How many 250 and 450s are on the showroom floors? I haven't seen any. It has been said that Suzuki is not importing 2010s. Is this true? If so is Dungey on a 2009?

GuyB, isn't this sort of important? And maybe worth knowing the actual rules?

I'm not asking to bust balls or to prove some conspiracy theory. It would help me out greatly because to be honest I'd prefer that our team races a different brand machine....

With all your contacts, can't you at least point me in the right direction?

Shouldn't this information be posted in the rule book? (It's not) Is there another rule book or document with the rule spelled out?

Help!

Thanks!

my buddy has a 2010 RMZ 450 and 250f. He has had the 450 for well over a month and just recently got the 250f. Stroupe was on a '10 and I am sure Dungey was as well. The canadae suzuki team was on '09's from what I heard.

And what about the new Husky-Beemer? That bike looks really sick!

I've heard from guys who've ridden the BMW (off-road version of the engine) that it's got all it's ever gonna need for MX so the question is just that new Husky chassis.

But again, how many? With a new Husky in the mix outdoors it adds one more flag to the pole now doesn't it?
