No disrespect to Justin because he rode awesome this year but is he high just thinking he's gonna go to the 450s next year? After years of regional 250 champs struggling to get a 450 ride (bogle, mookie, etc) and just a shortage of rides in general, what team is stepping up and offering a 450? I realize these guys have agents and have an idea of their future early on behind the scenes but with so many riders wishing they could've stayed in the 250s due to lack of 450 rides it seems kinda crazy that Justin can defend next year and still he says he's gonna move up anyways.
The Shop
He has intangibles that surely the big wigs have taken notice of.
He can talk any way he likes. He's won what, 5 races after 4 or so years in the 250 class and not completed a full season indoors and out. Granted he got it done, but take away McElrath's bike failure and who knows.
He's not even in the same dimension as those two moto demi-gods. He might end up doing great, but I wouldn't be basing that off the way he talks or some perceived intangible twinkle in his eye.
In fact, name me one rider since 2006, when 450s took over, that has said "I actually ride the 250 a lot better"...
I rewatched it a little bit ago and IMO he rides the 450 better than the 250. You can't blame him for hoping a team sees that and puts him on the 450.
I think what he's hoping to do is shop the 450 teams but if there's not anything worth taking, he will have the #1 plate on a 250 to fall back on. Not a bad plan. The OP is comparing him to guys that had no choice because they were getting pushed out of the class. This is a completely different situation.
2014 Monster Energy Cup Results
Not saying he couldn't be great, but if nothing else, I think he's mental walking from a guaranteed massive pay day and shot at another title to probably struggle in the 450s like 9/10 every other 250 champs...
As for his riding skills, someone has to move up. If not a 250W champ, then who? Also, you guys seem to think that he'll automatically get paid more to ride a 250F with a #1 on it.... not necessarily true.
Pit Row
seems like a sound strategy
That's soooo mean: ya might wanna check your credit...your Karma credit. For instance, you better retorque your sprocket bolts, bro!
And if Dungey retires, I can see Anderson replacing him, and Osbourne replacing Anderson.
Makes sense for all involved, including Baker and his mates.
I would be surprise if nobody offer this guy a 450 ride...
