Josh Grant has to be the biggest surprise for me for 2009, and he seems to be getting faster and faster every round. In San Fran last week he had the second fastest time of the night @ only .4sec behind Stewart. I have to admit, I didnt even have him on the radar for a regular podium contender, but he definetly is. Great riding so far.

I have to agree...he looks solid and consistant, which he was lacking in the past.

The 450 definitely seems to suit him.

I wouldn't say he's getting faster every round but somehow he learned some restraint. He isn't riding so far beyond his comfort level like he did on the lites bikes. When he does get a little crazy he seems to realize it and back it down a touch to just accept a good finish. I'd like to think he figured it out but we're still not halfway through the season.

He definitely looks capable of beating Villopoto in the final points. I probably would have laughed if someone suggested that before A1....

Good move for JGR. Getting good exposure for the team, sponsors, and himself.

Actually, I figured all a long that
Grant & RV both would be in the hunt.
I picked them both as solid "Top 5" guys.
Neither are proving themselves or my
picks wrong. If they both continue to stay
healthy, & enter the outdoors the same way,
it'll be a tough rode for the rest for sure, as
NONE have shown, what's the word I'm looking
for, ANYTHING, outside of some brief luck!

He has always ridden a 450 better. Looked like he always tried to over ride his 250F and if you do that on a 450 it wont agree with you pretty quick. Grant has such a great style I love watching him ride.

Grant really is going fast. The win was a big surprise for me and don't think that it will happen again but will get back on the box a few more times this year!! He is going to be a top 5 guy for some time. Outdoors the shot of him flat at Glen Helen going off the down hill is still one of the sickest shots ever. I dont know how to post it. Sorry. Grant top 5 SX and a good chance at top 3 outdoors.

The Yamaha is a good bike. What's your point? Why do you keep bringing it up? You on the payroll over at big blue or what?

Nah he hopes James will read it and ask him to be his friend, so then R-acer doesn't keep crawling up James' ass.

Does anyone think he will be a title contender outdoors? I dunno if he will have the speed outdoors for poto and alessi, but he's already proved us all wrong a few times this season..

Anything is possible. Look at Langston 2 yrs ago. He was so so most of the yr and after Stewart got hurt he got hot and went on a tear the last 4 rounds. Nobody would of bet there dollars that Langston would of won the Outdoors.

Buddy, (axel) give it a rest already. What’s with all the negativity? Lose the attitude dude, it’s old.

I only mentioned it because of the beating that Yamaha took at the beginning of the season. No I don’t work for any manufacturer and I have 4 brands of bikes in my garage at the moment, so I don’t have any brand loyalty. But if you read the boards a couple weeks ago, it sounded like Yamaha was the biggest POS in the world that could hardly make it around the track, and that’s just not true, as we have seen with the results.

If he rides like he did at some of his better races in the outdoors, he'll be right with mikey and villopoto. In GTO industrial Strength there was some awesome footage of him, super smooth yet somehow aggressive style.

Grant's always been 2 things.

A great starter.
Blazing fast.

If he is now adding fitness and finishes as well as some cool headed team focused coaching to his game.......you're gonna see the kid making it to the late season rounds with a shitload of points.

Will he beat Alessi or RV outdoors if those are the two favorites?

I don't know ......but they are also going to have to ride just as mistake free as Grant will to win it all.

Grant's been riding great, no doubt about that. My highlight for him so far this year has to be last week at San Fran when he straight-up elbows lil' Mikey in that bowl corner before the finish!! I almost jumped off the couch with excitement. Can u say, "taste of your own medicine!!!!" I NEVER believed the hype!! The #800 deserves every single block pass, break-check and take out move from any of his competitors, we all know this.. To make it even better, alessi was passed by about every other factory rider in the top 10 shortly there after... It'll be interesting to see the results of teamJGR outdoors...with grant and Coop, Gibbs has gotta be dying for Glen Helen to come around.
