Any ideas on what Josh Grant is doing for 2016 ?
Still a possibility of being on blue....
The Shop
Of course, there's also the chance someone gets hurt between now and the start of the season and someone could need a fill-in rider.
There are going to be over 20 Factory Level bikes on the gate at A1...& beyond. He should and probably will be on one of them.
The days of racing with just talent are over. You now need that talent combined with the physical fitness of a professional cyclist and the strength of an MMA fighter. In recent years we have seen many of the most talented riders pushed to the back and out of racing.
Guys like Josh Hill, Josh Hansen, Josh Grant are some of the most fun to watch but all lack the same attributes. It seems as though their programs have lacked structure. Each, at times, has shown flashes of brilliance. But none of them have been known to be fitness freaks like Ryan Dungey, Ryan Hughes or even Ryan Villopoto. Perhaps, the Joshs need a quick name change to something like Ryan.
All joking aside there are obviously an abundance of factors that the general public will never know about each of those riders. But to me, it sure seems as though the lack of structure in their program has weakened their overall fitness and confidence.
Grant could take a few notes from Reed's ability to utilize the motocross media to generate some hype. He is one of those riders that people love, but may be a little forgotten down the road.
P.S. I can't express how proud I was when Grant redeemed the United States by winning a moto at the USGP. He made us proud! On that day, in that moto, he was the fastest man on the planet.
