Our friend Joe Bonnello is not doing so good... 5 Hours ago
Joe Bonnello is my friend. He is an icon of sport photography. He is one of the best motocross photographer out there. There is no doubt about it. Every one knows who he is because he’s been around the sport more than anybody. With his bald head, his famous short, his humor, his loud laughter, Joe is a very unique guy. Walking into the paddock with him and going somewhere is quite impossible. It takes hours because he talks to everybody, he knows everybody. About 10 years ago when I first came to the United States he helped me out becoming the photographer I am now. He taught me a lot of his secrets, he loaned me his 70-200mm, f/2.8 I dreamed about. He was here for me. I will never forget it.
Joe is in trouble today. He has health issues. His neck is bothering him. He had surgery but it went really bad. He drove himself up to St. Joseph's in Orange straight from the X-Games. He finally checked out but was back in the hospital a few days later. He has almost no money in the bank and no prospects for work until he is well enough to shoot. I want to help Joe out. Would you help him as well? Please click http://lebig.blogs.motoverte.fr/ and donate, let him know that all the motocross industry and his friends are here for him. Thank you.

I think he was injured earlier in the year, and was unable to shoot for quite a while. San Diego was his first event back.
If there's a Paypal thing, I'm down to help. Joe's a cool cat.

No doubt. I will help him out.
Joe is, well a good Joe for sure.
Put up the pay pal.
Or maybe I'll call him and rent his 300mm for Hangtown. For over the normal rate of course.
Then we both win.

I just got another e-mail about this. I'd seen Joe at the ESPN event in San Diego, and early in the day on Saturday he was wearing a neck brace as he was rehabbing following surgery for an old injury. Well, apparently later in the weekend one of the screws that was holding a cage in his neck worked its way out, punched some holes in esophagus, and then deposited itself in his chest cavity. Joe then drove himself from San Diego to Orange for follow-up surgery. Since then, he's been in and out of the hospital (mostly in), and could use some financial help. Some folks within the industry have already rallied up some support, and you can expect to see stickers and t-shirts for sale at Glen Helen with an "I helped Joe" message. Rather than going the bald head and short-shorts route to show my support, I kicked in some Paypal bucks to help him out. Stephan Legrand set up a Paypal link on his blog page, and you can find it at http://lebig.blogs.motoverte.fr/

We're down to help. I've only met Joe a few times but seems like a great guy. Besides the riders, mx photogs make the world go round in this sport.
Take care Joe!

Glad to help Joe out, one of the true characters of this sport.
He was featured recently in a SIDI boot ad sitting on a KTM Adventure which was run in
several motorcycle publications.
Get well fast Joe !!!

That might be something worth talking to the WMXF about. MotoBowl is coming up, and they always do a big silent auction.

Thats awesome..
If they need stuff to auction for Joe let me know. I don't have much but you know I'll give it up to help him out.
How about someone coming up with a cool T-shirt that says. "Joe is my Bro" or something like that and sell them to help him out??
Gibby??
How about a T that says. Vital MX Joe Bonello's biggest fan.
I know there are some funny guys here that can come up with something. A new study shows that Depression hits Losers the hardest.

I'm glad Joe's on the mend. I'll help as much as I can. Chuck Norris is 1/8th Cherokee. This has nothing to do with ancestry, the man ate a fucking Indian!
