I hope he shows for Steel City but I won't hold my breathe. Once he wasn't picked or even given a chance for MXoN you could see the wind go out of his sails.

I think it's becoming painfully obvious that that James Stewart we're used to seeing is a distant memory. I really wish James would of finished today and showed that he's still a racer at heart and his finishing position isn't every thing. It was nice seeing him out there the 1st moto but I have a feeling we won;t see him again until A1..

I have a feeling that may be the case.....which would be a huge disappointment. Dont think his wrist is bothering his at all.....he was riding and testing and it seemed fine .....IMO that would be a fabricated excuse to sit the rest out IF he was only there to be on the MXDN..... dam thats gotta hurt his direction of his show.

Heck, there's no need for an excuse - if he came out to ride the Nationals with the understanding that he'd get considered for the Des Nations and he got to Unadilla and found out the team was already picked, then to heck with it. If that's what happened - and I don't know any more than anyone - then he was just used by the promoters to help attendance. Where I come from, that's wrong.

But he said he was doing it for the fans. He kind of painted himself into a corner with the "racing for the fans" speak. He'll probably say it's his wrist. We may never know. Sad.

I never once read or heard anywhere the promoter say that he would be given a tryout. I'm pretty sure the promoter doesn't even choose the team. I have read numerous times where James said where if he did well that he thought he deserved a shot. It doesn't matter... It's obvious he's not yet ready anyway. Short is a solid top 5 for the MXDN and not a bad pick at all. Stewart would have been a good pick if he had been ready by the time they picked today.

I've wondered before how much abuse one body could take. I don't think I ever saw a rider hit the ground as hard, as often as Stewart did from '05 through '07, and you have to wonder if the wrist is the straw that broke the camel's back. Sooner or later, everybody has to start thinking about consequences too much while he's riding, and James is certainly set for life financially...but mostly he just looked real rusty and tired.

We'll see, but he's not the first guy who has struggled with a wrist issue for a long time.

James is very talented on a motorcycle no doubt, BUT all this bullshit about the MXoN being his motivation for riding the last 4 rounds is getting old! Most of you guys bashing Short as a choice for the team instead of James is a bunch of crap, Why is there a sense of entitlement for a guy who turned his back to the "roots" of the sport and more importantly the fans and sponsors? Even if he is James Stewart! I'm a fan of his, but he lost all my respect today and really put himself in a hole if he ever wants to be considered a true champion!
Just my two cents..........flame away!

Its wrong for both sides to do what it appears they did with the MXdN and pimping James for attendence. I think someone stuck some Kryptonite on him because he looked mortal out there and I dont see him having his colossal advantage in SX anyomore either......he is going to have to battle with Dungey now.

If he doesnt come back I am going to lose a lot of my fan respect for him and I dont mean that in a negative manner its just his attitude today was not very good and to just ban Erin or NBC to get an interview even the team was silent was BS.

Next weekend will tell the real story and if he does quit till A1 I wont be all that excited about the ex fastest man on the planet.

Not pissed at all but he was being a sour sport today and it showed

Ya know, I've given James a lot of shit myself, the last couple years, but holy cow!

Damned if he does, and damned if he don't! At least he came out and gave it a go, should get some props for that... and if the whole deal about the des nations is true, who would blame him for pulling out and waiting till SX? I wouldn't...

8/14/2010 1:23pm
I think it is very simple, James wasn't ready. We have all come back from injury and realized that we are further off than we thought. James is not immune to this. I give James all of the credit for showing his face at dilla. He didn't have to do it.

I think he is still fastest, just not in shape enough yet.

Also, Dungey and company have stepped it up since over the course of this season.

I hope he is at the next round and gets back up to speed before the season is out! Then we can see Dungey truly tested. I think he is up to it though.
