If he is going to race he needs to come out and say it so that the people that want to see him race can make plans to be there. Going to a National isn't a last minute deal for most people.

Most people go to a National for the atmosphere and the top-class racing, not to see an individual rider.

But if you're waiting for Stewart to start thinking of the fans then you might want to make yourself comfortable.

Was talking to John Beasly at Budds one year.
McGrath was on top, and had bailed on the race the year before.
With Jeremy there, the place was packed.
Looking around, in a kinda wistful way, he tells me,

Many of James' fans would. I've said it before, you can credit James for bringing new fans to the sport, but many of those fans will leave when he leaves.

I'm sure that the only people in the stadium, who left when that happened, were the sole AA's that are JS fans... You had a purpose with that post, and it was to point out the fact that you thought the "new fans" were weak motocross fans, and not as interested in MX as you are. However, that is flawed, considering that 30,000+ people also left at that time, which makes you look like an ass.

Either way I don't really care, just pointing out how racist that comment was.

i cant imagine a fan of the sport leaving before seeing what was probably the craziest last lap in recent supercross history. when bubba went down they left. maybe not the reason everyone else left but that particular group.
