JMB was very candid on his opinion about RV's retirement. Some might be lost in translation.

I strongly desagree... RV earned the right to retire when he wants, i don't see why he should go in the full rehab process/race mode for two races... Much respect RV, you'll be missed in France also. I hope you'll come hunting in our forests one day.

Yeah, such a shame that he won't race with a broken tailbone. RV is such a puss.

I do kind of agree with him. He's not exactly gone out the way a true champion should

I've always been a fan of the rider, but never been a fan of the guy. I do agree with JMB, that's not the way a true American Champ is supposed to retire.
You guys are probably the proudest people in the world, so proud of your country and your flag, I really don't understand how you can accept his behavior.
Tell your fans you're injured, say you're not healing like it should, hold on till Glen Helen and show up at your home gp, pull a holeshot (try to pull it...), ride two laps and give up, pick up a flag and head to the pits. THAT would be epic and he would have been remembered like the guy who tried it all, the last image would be him waving your flag not him on his butt. It wouldn't take any big effort, he shouldn't even have to train to accomplish such an easy task.
That's the way I see it and if it went like this I would probably be the first to change my mind and become a real fan of him.
It looks to me like he doesn't give a flying shift about his fans, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he doesn't even show up again to sign an autograph.
That's my very humble opinion...

Doctor already cleared him to race. He just don't see a point in it.

No, if he can't race he can't race. Just think he could have been a bit more visible over the past couple of months. It's good that he will be coming back to be a brand embassador and will be there to meet his fans.

Seems like the translation is a little messy. I think JMB just feels bad for RV going out like this. I think the key is that the fire in RV's gut just doesn't burn anymore and he is probably relieved in some ways that he has got this out there and he can now move on.

You do realize that this was what was negotiated so he could get paid...He didn't want to race and Kaw wanted him to come back...hello meet compromise...

I seem to recall JMB throwing his bike down in the Team Honda pits and walking out with his pussy ass tail between his legs.

JMB was one smooth dude on a dirt bike though.....respect.

My opinion is that he thought was much he easier, was convinced to be "the fastest of the planet" and dicovered reality was a little different, so with little chances to win, got lots of $ and at the first opportunity he got out.

I call bullshit on this. Some of us might have thought he was going to cakewalk over there but I highly doubt Ryan underestimated how tough it was going to be. He had a freak accident and never got all the wrinkles ironed out of his program and riding. Barring injuries I totally beleieve the title would have boiled down to Ryan and Tony.

i think JMB has to focus on his job, making team HRC better. He has a lot of work to do ...

Villopoto is a sore loser.
JMB is right: he kept calling excuses for not being as fast as many Euro were, stated in the US they would have ended up in an ambulance and so on.
He ended up with a broken back and showed no respect for his own career and the sport.

He really should have ridden out the season completely disinterested and gone road racing next year.... That would have been a real champion's exit...

I'm not talking shit about Americans, "au contraire" (like they say it in France), I'm just feeling like RV is not behaving like a proud American fan would like him to do...
